Subject:Sound Forge Mac CRAWLING since upgrade

Recent upgrade has brought this product to it's knees> Once ver snappy - everything moved and loaded fast - is now a "go get your coffee while you wait" deal. Pinwheel, beach ball.

What happened ? It feels as though my Mac - very fast with flash storage - is acting like a 10 year old Windows PC. What the hell happened ?

Could you provide more specific examples?

- When do you beach-ball? Opening files? Starting playback? Specific editing operations?
- Does it occur with some file types or formats but not others?
- Are the files networked?
- What version of OSX?
- Any recent OS or driver updates?

Anyone else out there had similar issues with the latest update?

My beach balls are coming every time I add a process or insert silence, and saving the soundforgeproject. Project is only 15.5 mgs. Anybody know how to resolve this?

@Leonardn

What version of OSX?
What audio hardware?
Type of Mac?
What type of audio file? Any? Long, short? Stereo, multichannel?
All processes? AU or VST?

I am getting the same beach ball situation with every click on a plugin. It's strange because I have 16gig of memory and a almost empty hard drive. I have version 1.x.x and right now I can't take the beach ball and wait. It's sickening. Is there a solution? Anyone?

Same problem here as well. Seems to be specific to adding effects. Izotope ozone can take up to a minute to load and occasionaly crashes SFMac to the desktop, Sony effects 10-20 seconds....varries.

Very slow and lethargic. Also, if you add more than one file at a time to the time line things get very slow. This is working with a stereo save file only, 3 mins long, 32bit floating, 44k but behavior is the same with 16 bit

This really "feels" like a cache issue, no idea but its as if the app is swapping or paging memory space somewhere instead of using the immense amount of avaliable ram instead. Would be great if preferences gave users the option if thats the case.

November 23 / 2015 update

After the version 2.5.1 update, many of these problems have been resolved and the overall response of the app is considerably faster.

Mac mini, 16 gigs, 1 tb hdd, Mavericks 9.5, core audio interface, 7200 ext audio hdd.
