My primary editing environment is now FCPX and I have used SF for many years. I am considering the cross grade, but wondering if Sony expects me to never use the Windows product afterward? I guess it could be considered running on two machines at the same time and all. The $89 offer got me to thinking ... |

I'm not Sony, so i can't respond for them. However ... Generally all their upgrades have actually been full purchase of a new license at a discount. When upgrading you get a NEW license so the old version is still a separately licensed product and still available for use. I suspect that their policy for crossgrading is the same, but you'd do better contacting customer support or sales directly. |

Good point. The only caveat is that the old license cannot be used again for upgrade purposes. Once or twice I have sold old Vegas licenses with that warning for potential buyers. |

I did the crossgrade. It is good to have the iZotope plugins on the Mac as I regularly used them when I was editing with Vegas. |

I think the other question it begs to ask... Is this the end of the line for the PC version of Sound Forge? Acid Pro seems deader than a doornail and Sound Forge 10 (although small updates it has had) hasn't seen a new version since 09.) |
