I would appreciate any help. Just loaded Acid Pro 7 onto a newer computer, Windows 7. I purchased a new Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 and hooked that up - Mackie mixer into 2i2 via sub out and out of 2i2 to speakers through two assigned channels. When I record a track, I am experiencing crackle and fuzz in the recording (don't hear it in the headphones while recording) but it's only in the recording when there is a signal... dead air is clean... any idea what may be causing this? Thanks! |

Assume you are setting the mic input level into the 2i2 (via the Mackie) so that the input meters aren't going into the red ? Are you headphone monitoring off the Mackie or Focusrite ? If off the Mackie, then It is possible that it could be overloading the 2i2 before it's input level controls. But less likely... If OK at the 2i2 headphone monitor, then possibly driver-compatibility issues. Check you are using it's ASIO drivers. Doesn't hurt to have the ASIO settings at the same spec as the project settings, to eliminate that as a cause. geoff |

Thanks Geoff... I'm definitely not going into the red. I was headphone monitoring off the Mackie. I just tried the headphones in the Focusrite and I hear no signal at all... even with all volume pushed up. Thanks for any and all help. |

Hmmm – My issue is very similar. I too just purchased Acid Pro7 and a Focusrite 2i2 interface and I am getting static. I hear the static in head phones before I record because I select Input Monitoring. I’m using AmpliTube 3 as a VST. There is no static when I’m not using a VST. I’m not sure if I should start a new post or just follow along here. ??? |

Correction, I get crackle static, buzz even when not using my VST AmpliTube3 when the track record button is armed and I have Input Monitoring selected. I do have to turn up the tracks Master Volume to hear it but the meter shows it’s there even at lower volume settings. I think AmpiTube just magnified or amped up the noise. When using the 2i2 and Amplitube3 without AcidPro7 there is no noise at all. Please don’t let me confuse the original posted problem but we may have the same issue. |

Here is what I learned from support. There appears to be known issue with Focusrite 2i2 where being set at 16-bit 44,100 Hz for the sample rate can cause "static" in recording. Please set the device to 48,000 Hz sample rate, within its management software, and then set your ACID Pro project to 48,000 Hz. |

In Acid Pro7 go to: File - Properties - Audio and change the sample rate to 48,000. This is half of the battle. Now I can't get the Focusrite 2i2 to allow the sample rate change of 48,000. It seems to be stuck on 441,000. From my understanding the Focusrite 2i2 sample rate 441,000 is the problem. I was told that other AcidPro7 users were able to do this and it fixed the problem. I hope it works for you. Please let me know and I'll update if I make any progress. |

I Googled "How to change the sample rate on a 2i2" and I found many people asking the same thing. If you figure it out please let me know. I have a guess that a Windows 7 audio application that is normal and required called audiodg.exe is in conflict with the 2i2 driver. I am definitely guessing about that. |

Did you contact Acid or Focusrite support? I have no idea how to make that change to the 2i2. But... I opened up Acid... went to File/Properties/Audio... changed the rate to 48,000, recorded a quick take and the static is GONE! But each track doesn't seem to want to stay at 48,000 unless you save the project. Then when I open a new project... I have to select 48,000 once again and save for the new project to stay at 48,000. I'll keep you informed as I get time to work with it more. |

If the device is being used as the system audio device, then you may not be able to change settings. It depends on the device and its drivers. In general you should not use the ASIO device in ACID if it is set up as the windows default audio device. Peter |

ASIO is a driver model. There are two popular types: ASIO, and WDM (Windows Classic Wave Driver). Your i2i has both. The former driver model is generally better for audio. Go to Options > Preferences > Audio Device and change the audio device type at the top. Also, if you want to start off with a preferred sample rate, press Alt + Enter on your keyboard, click the Audio tab, change to your desired sample rate and then check the box next to, "Start all new projects with these settings." Click OK. From then on, any new project you start should default to that sample rate. |

Fixed! (After 5 days of research) I had two issues. The first was the same as the original Crackle and Fuzz issue caused by the Focusrite 2i2 Interface when set at a 44100 sample rate. The solution was to change the sample rate to 48000 as mentioned by tech support and also by nice folks that offered some excellent detailed suggestions. Thanks! I really needed those details. The second issue was that I could not change the sample rate. The solution was to go to Windows 7 Sound Settings and right click on the USB Interface and Disable it in both the Playback and Record tabs. I learned that not being able to change the sample rate of a USB Audio Interface is pretty common and not isolated to one particular brand. I found an M-Audio thread regarding this that started in 2008 and was resolved in 2012. It was resolved without any help form M-Audio support. BTW: I received Zero help from Focusrite Support. If I were to recommend an interface brand after this experience I would probably say Personas or Line6 but the main point is to try and find a company that has an excellent reputation for supporting their products. I now know that compatibility issues with all interfaces and all DAW programs are common enough that you may have to try more than one interface. Save your box just in case. This advice just helped me with a problem I was having rendering MP3 audio in Vegas Pro 12 using a Focusrite 6i6. Works perfectly now, when before I was getting "audiodg.exe" error messages. Thanks so much! |
