Subject:Synchronize position of two opened files

Hello,

Sometimes I want to compare 2 files (same length, same duration)...

I would like that when I jump from file A to file B, the position of the cursor is the same...

Is there a feature like this in SF ?

Thanks

Any idea of how to match the position of 2 opened sound files ?

i.e. file A has same play position cursor than file B

(so that I can easily compare A and B)

At first glance, I'd say there probably isn't. I'll think about it though.

One way around this might be to create a new stereo file (assuming your files are mono otherwise you'd need 4 channels for two stereo files) and then paste the two files you want to compare in each channel. Then you could just move your cursor to the top or bottom of the file window to play between the files. Your cursor would always then be synced.

thanks rob for your answer.

so sad this feature doesn't exist :(

i always open multiple files, and i use "Tile horizontally", so it really would be cool to be able to have the cursor at the same timing for all opened files...

(my files are stereo files, and sometimes i want to compare 4 or 5 files, so your interesting multi-channel trick won't work)

Sound Forge isn't really built for this kind of thing. You should use a multi-track DAW like Reaper for this. You can line up your files in separate tracks and keep everything synced with the same cursor.

You can easily do this in Vegas. There is a plug-in called PluralEyes that will synchronize audio files--it works very, very well. They do offer a free trial.
