Vegas 12 color match

Arthur.S wrote on 4/20/2013, 12:41 PM
Build 563: Color match doesn't seem to be working. Had no problems with this when using the Beta version. But unless I'm missing something silly, it aint working :-(
The 'copy from trimmer' icon is greyed out (yes I have the clip I want to copy in the trimmer) and copy from clipboard doesn't do anything either. Any clues guys??

Just bumpin' up

Arthur, it works on my side with build 563.

I did try copy from clipboard and Use Trimmer Image, which was greyed out but once I bring in an image in the trimmer the button is no longer greyed out and works fine. Hope this helps.

Did Sony ever addressed the problem where this plugin just makes huge .veg files if you overuse it?

No, it still stays greyed out for me. It works if I take a snapshot of the clip I want to copy, then browse to that. Strange.

One last bump

Hi Arthur,

Please right-click within the Trimmer window and enable the option "Show Video Monitor". Then you'll have the ability to grab the Trimmer image in the Color Match window. If this option is not enabled, then the Color Match "Use Trimmer Image" is also disabled.

Hi Paddy. I noticed that when I open an event in the trimmer that the applied FX are bypassed; I am not sure if it is on event level FX only or also the applied media FX. However, that makes it impossible to color match a shot that has been graded to an ungraded one using the trimmer function.

Hi OldSmoke,

When loading a video file or event into the Trimmer window (regardless where from), the source video is loaded. As you have observed, this appears without any effects or pan/crop applied (Pre-FX). Therefore, to match color with a color-corrected clip, you'll need to use one of the other methods of capturing an image source - from the Clipboard, from a saved file, or by simply grabbing any onscreen image.

Best,
Paddy

Color Match is a rather sad feature at the moment. It is not a functioning feature in the slightest as far as I am concerned. Either fix it which support has confirmed it is broke or take it out of the product.

No, just fix it. The feature works in FCPX an PP, and sometimes it works in Vegas, so it's not impossible..

Thanks Paddy.

I'm using Frederic's Colour Match. It just works!

I agree Grazie. Frederic's colour match is excellent as are all his plug-ins. With that said, however, I've also used the Vegas 12 option and found that to work OK. bearing in mind the caveats the Forum Administrator mentions above.
