Subject:Volume Control?

I tried a search for this, but didn't find anything that I thought helped.
Anyways, I'm a singer, and I'm trying to record a particular song. But whenever I get to the climax of the song, it gets fuzzy. Like it's too loud, you know? I'm not sure if it's the particular microphone I'm using or the program, or if I can fix it using the program.

Thanks for the help. ^_^
(PS I can send a sample somehow if you need one to know what I'm talking about. I know I'm not the most descriptive human.)

When you are recording are you setting an inpout level such that there is no clipping indicated ? If there is, you need to turn the input level done - this is done on your audio interface control applet, or mayvbe a knob on the box(?).

Or maybe your mic is itself distorting, or has too much level out into the interface. What is the mic and ionterface ?

If you are, and not clips when recording, is there some setting in your FX chain that is adding gain , to the point of causing clipping ?

@ HaleighP:

Good Compressor-Limiter Plug-in techniques will solve this problem. But, you are going to have to run a/o DAW host buss assign the mic to chain into such VST's for take down live at Master Console, etc. Usually, it's the other way around once the vox is already recorded. You'll have to experiment.

Another (and easier) way is to use an actual hard-ware rack compressor (if you own and use one). Run the mic vox there (along with an outboard mixer if possible) and tame your levels that way before introducing the compressed signal outputs into your audio interface device leading into DAW.

Here are some good Google links about this I have searched out for you:

You may also download free and high quality VST Plug-ins from "Variety of Sound." Incredibly amazing and Great sounding plugs. The best I've seen and used anywhere myself for free. Read the page carefully as you scroll down about half-way to begin using immediately:

Keep us posted as to how you made out and best of luck!

No plugins (compressor or other) will help if the input is being overloaded.

First thing to do is to set the input level to ensure that the input doesn't go into the red on the loudest passages, though it is possible to overload another stage prior to even entering the computer.

Haleigh - would help to know what the recording chain hardware is.
