Weird Windows7 message when opening Sony Vegas

Every time I start SVP 10.0 64bit on my Windows7 machine, I get this strange message that says, "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your computer." Yes/No.

If I select Yes, then SVP opens properly.

What's that all about, and how can I get it to stop doing that?

That message usually comes up when you have something set to 'run as administrator'.

Windows is pretty suspicious and wants to protect you from evil programs that just so sneak-starts on your machine.

So when this message is shown check something like "Do not show this message again for this program" or the like and press Yes - and you will be able to enjoy Vegas in the future without this message.

That message is a function of the Windows component known as User Access Control - or UAC for short. Basically it checks to see if the user ID you are logged on with should have free access to change things on your system, or not.

You can turn UAC on or off from the Control Panel: open User Accounts and then click on the bottom option "Change User Account Control Settings." You will get a dialog that lets you set UAC to different levels of control. The lowest level turns UAC off completely so you will never see such a message again.

You can set UAC whenever you want if you decide you like the extra protection it provides.
