How can I add a radio effect to a sound file for use in a computer game, I want it to be hissing and loads of noise if you know what I mean.

You might have to experiment around to get exactly what you're looking for. Try lowering the level of the audio -40 to -50 dB then convert your file to 8bits, Then normalize the file and covert it back to 16 bit. This should give it a noisy, kind of grainy sound. Now try eqing it a little with a graphic EQ by over boosting the 1.2Khz area and then cutting the low frequencies (400Hz down) and also cutting the high frequencies (5Khz and Up). This should thin it out a bit and sound like it's being played over a low quality radio speaker. You might want to try looking for a static sound Fx to add in the background also. This should get you started with some ideas once you start to experiment around.

Thanks for an intelligent post, I get tired of reading the "how do I remove vocals posts"
