Upon installing the update, the behavior the of the multiple harmonic selection tool changed, and not in a good way. I was attempting to isolate four frequencies which the preceding update does flawlessly, in spite of the harmonic numbering issue, an incidental inconvenience. The update corrects the numbering problem, however, some of the harmonics are no longer selected completely. For example, let's say I have a steady tone of 10 seconds duration. I want to extract the first four harmonics. I set that to four. I set the duration of the extraction long enough to capture the whole 10 seconds in one shot. However, upon hovering the mouse, only three of the harmonics are fully extracted. The fourth highlights only from halfway through the sound to the end and the extraction is flawed. I tried this over and over with the same unfortunate result. I restarted the software, I restarted the computer. No change. The previous update did not have this problem, so I have gone back to the previous version. Also, the upgrade process wasn't up to the smoothness of Sony's other products. Each time I changed versions I was required to go through looking up the serial number. The software's option for looking up the number didn't work. I had to cut and paste from the web site. |

That is disturbing news Doug; I have not had time to do anything beyond installing & opening the update to see if it opens a file .... but will now look deeper when I get a moment. I agree it is annoying to re-enter the serial number etc. just for an update. Did you submit a bug report? |

Hi ChristoC, Hey, good to hear you! Well, I didn't do a bug report. It's such a basic problem that I thought it would be good to see if anyone else also experienced it. All I can say is that , now that I have returned to the older version, the selection process OK again. |

Yes, can now confirm that the new build 25 does not accurately include the harmonics as cleanly as the previous build 21 - when selecting the 'root', the harmonics are included in a haphazard mess. Bug report #130219-000075 submitted ... |

Thanks, Christo. I hope they get on this quickly... It's stating the obvious, but how could they release an update with this sort of flaw in the program's signature function? Amazing! I will submit my report also. I found a Sound Forge bug a while ago that they haven't fixed, too: in the Loop Tuner window, if you hand type a new sample value in the boxes, the program makes the adjustment but it doesn't change the file to an unsaved state - CTRL-S won't work unless you do other edits. You have to Save As or you'll lose it. I realize that's a really nitpicky little thing, of course, but that's me! :) |

Hi Doug and Christo, I'm jumping in late but wanted to ask which version of SpectraLayers you had to uninstall and which version you are now using. Is this for SpectraLayers Pro? I use Pro and just purchased a Windows 8 computer. I will have to deal with Windows 8 issues soon, I'm sure. Thank you. |

Yes SpectraLayers Pro - the "latest" version is build 25 (V1.0.25), which is the one I rejected/uninstalled as it does not accurately include the harmonics as cleanly as the previous build 21 (V1.0.21). So far SCS have not responded to my Support Ticket regarding this. |
