ive tried s.f. 4.5 and 5.0 and they both wont record the sound from the input, or even register it for that matter. I can hear the audio through my headphones on the comp and all the right settings are set to the right input device. Im stumped any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. thanx tj |

In SF I assume you have set up the options menu? Options/Preferences/Wave, and select the correct sound card for recording and playback. And have the record window open? "Ctrl-R" ... and have check marked the monitor box so you can see if you have input? Are you getting any error messages? Does SF recognize the sound card(s) in the Options/Preferences/Wave list? |

yeah i have it all set up right. i have a soundblaster live card unfortunately, which is set up for the record in and playback. i have the record window up and the monitor is moving oh so slightly but not toa beat. i can hear the musik coming in when ihave the headphones on from the comp. so im assuming the soundcard is working fine. |

I've had SF now for about 3 months, but just recently, within the last week, used it to record through the Line-In (vs. just using it to stereo master ripped CD's and mp3's.). I ran 2 mics through a Behringer Eurorack mini mixer; one mic on a guitar and one mic on vocals; it didn't come out too bad, considering. After reading this post, I went back and checked and found that 'Microsoft Sound Mapper' was checked for 'wave' in both the record and playback options in SF. I'll have to go back and try it again now that I've chosen the sound card default record in and playback out. I guess I'm surprised it came out as well as it did. I do have 'Use Only Preferred Devices' checked in the Control Panel Multimedia Properties box, and the Santa Cruz is showing as the Preferred Device for both record and playback, so that might have overridden the choice in SF, but I'm not sure; that's one of the reasons I posted this reply. sk |

This is how to set up sound cards that use the Windows mixer for routing: Open the Windows volume control by double clicking the yellow speaker icon by your computer's clock. Once the play control window comes up, go to the Options menu and select "Properties". Select "Recording" under "Adjust Volume For" and where it says "Show the Following Volume Controls", make sure everything is selected. Now click "OK" and you will get a recording control window. This is where you can change the source that you are recording from. Under each volume control is a box marked "Select". Make sure that the box under the desired source is selected and that the volume is turned up about three quarters of the way. If the music is too loud or quiet when you record it, you can come back to this window and adjust the volume as necessary. Ted |
