Does a simple effect, like Audacity's Noise Reduction, exist in Sound Forge Audio Studio 10? (Not PRO). I record commentaries and the computer fan noise, mouse clicks and keyboard presses come up in the audio files. I can get rid of most of that in Audacity, is there a way to get rid of it in Sound Forge in a few simple steps? Or am I better off using Audacity. (I paid for this program so I'm hoping I can use it haha) |

There are basic restoration tools in SFAS, mostly aimed at transcription of vinyl or tapes. For full sophisticated Noise Recuction, you need to go to SF Pro. Not sure if SFAS has the basic audio 'Repair' function of SF Pro with 'clever' replacement of glitched sections. geoff Message last edited on10/24/2012 9:56:05 PM byGeoff_Wood. |

Hmm well thanks for an answer. I'll just stick with Audacity then. |

Audacity does have good Noise Reduction capabilities, but I prefer what GoldWave offers. With audacity you can only hear a short passage of the restored audio before applying NR, but with GoldWave you can hear the entire file. GoldWave will work unrestricted in trial mode. You just get a nag screen at startup. (I have purchased it, and it's well worth the small outlay.) |

The free version of Sound Soap worked pretty good, however I don't know about it's availability since Bias, Inc closed shop. |
