I do allot of recording with my mini DV cam and the sound comes out very hollow sounding. I was wondering if there is a way to correct this and take out the hollow sound. If you know of anything please post here or email me tvasquez@elp.rr.lcom. Thnx |

You really need to give more information. Like you say you record with a mini disc? What does that mean? How do you get the sound into the mini disc? Do you use a microphone, which is connected to a mic pre? What kind of microphone? What type of mic pre? do you record directly into a line in? a digital in? a mic in? What are you recording into the mini disc? Music? You singing? speaking? Maybe just "hollow" sound fX's? |

I would suspect the camera also and the only way to overcome this is if the camera has an external microphone plug and then buy a high quality microphone and pre-amp to plug into it. Might be more than you're willing to lug around though. |

What I usually do (in post) is to equalize the audio to boost the bass and try to flatten out the response. |

This sounds like a phase error to me. When the MD is connected to SF and SF is connected back to the annalogue terminals of sf/MD you will be getting a slight deleay going back to the md when the system does a change from digital to annalogue conversion. What you need to do is break the line 1. going into the sound card 2. coming out out of the card At present you are creating a sound loop with the MD connected to the card. Bill Woolford. |
