Subject:Assigning track to midi channel?

I'm sorry for this question but I can't figure this out. I'm pulling my hair out trying to understand how to enable this. I thought I understood from a previous post but clearly I don't. My apologies. I appreciate any guidance for a dummy like myself. I've provided a very concrete and very simple example below.

Here's a screenshot
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s268/fartheststar/midichan2_zps92fec77c.jpg

- I have setup a project with 2 midi tracks. Track 2 is shown in the screenshot.
- I have opened Kontact Player and I've loaded up 2 samples. On Channel 1 in Kontakt Player I have Steel String Guitar as shown. On Channel 2 in Kontakt Player I have put the "A List Dry Kit" drumset as shown.
- I want Track 1 in Acid Pro 7 to play back Steel String Guitar from Kontakt Player. (It's doing this fine currently).
- I want Track 2 to play back the Kontakt Drumset (that's on Midi Channel 2). I can't figure out how to do this. (right now it's playing back the steel string guitar samples).

What option do I need to select on Acid's Track 2 to have it play back the Drumset that is in Kontakt Player?

I'm trying to do this without creating a second instance of the Kontakt Player. I'm trying to do this using the single instance of Kontakt Player (not creating another VST instance of Kontakt Player). I realize I can just keep creating new instances of Kontakt player to get different sounds, but I'm trying to find the "right" way of doing this with midi channels.

AGain, thank you so much. I apologize - I just can't figure this out.

i use kontakt all the time. i usually load multiple instruments in 1 instance. these settings work for me:

- i tend to make sure "auto" = all (your screenshot is showing 2)

- the "kontaktplayer" "button" (to the right of "auto") is how the midi channels are accessed/selected within kontakt. so if "steel string" is showing in kontakt as midi channel 1 select midi 1 on the track channel "kontaktplayer" "button". other instruments in kontakt will be assigned in the same way as you make sure the channel #s correspond.

hopefully not confusing and helps.

What dudewidaplan said; you want to click the VSTi output button in the track, then assign that to the corresponding MIDI track within the VSTi.

Just wanted to say thanks for the replies. I'll try as soon as I can get Kontakt Player working in Acid again. Everytime I open Kontakt right now it locks everything up with the "Memory does not seem to work properly" error that there's quit a bit about on the internet. I don't know what changed between now and then, but it's a bummer... I think technology is passing me by.
