Subject:OT - Change to WinAmp?

I currently have Windows Media Player V 11 for XP installed. Most of extensions for my audio and video files default to this. The PC came that way with V 9 in September 2005. It works good for the most part. The bigest problem is that without any warning it will display an error and loose all of the information in the catalog. No files are lost, but I cannot look up any files using artist, genre, etc. Also my mp4 files are directed to Nero Showtime. Sometimes the program will display a warning wanting to display it in a higher resolution. If I do that all of the icons on my desktop are scrambled and I have to reorganize them. I definitely don't like that. Most of the MP4 files play perfectly. I have seen several posts saying good things about WinAmp. Will that change all of my audio and video files to this program? I think that would be good. Will the high resolution video files play without any warnings? Is Wthere anything I should be concerned about? Will it interfere with Sound Forge Pro 10 or Vegas Movie Studio 11 or Vegas Pro 12 (which reuires QuickTime 7)? I these are a lot of questions, but I don't want to cause any problems with the operation of this system. I would appreciate any help with this. Different media players are designed to hijack each other at startup or every time you open them and take over file associations. You need to turn off this behavior individually in each player. Then set file associations to open each media file type in the application you choose. This includes Winamp. Message last edited on2/19/2013 1:33:48 PM bymusicvid10. |
