Being able to preview using the analog output of a Pinnacle Systems DV500? Or even being able to capture using the analog ins? It's kind of a pain to have to use Premiere to do these things, when I'd really like to use Vegas exclusively. Thanks ahead.
Well... actually, I'm not sure that an OHCI firewire card will give me any more than I have now. In WinXP, the DV500 appears to be OHCI compliant and works just like any other OHCI firewire card if you ignore the analog I/O. Unfortunately, much of what I must do is to transfer SVHS video to do sound effects placement. I'd rather not buy a DV cam jsut to provide a video A/D conversion. I suppose if the DV500 goes for enough, I could go with a cheapo firewire card and the Dazzle A/D D/A unit.
They have a device that does D to A and A to D that isn't a camera. It also provides analog output to an external TV. I think the Sony DA2 is a similar thing, but it costs more.
