Hello:

I'm a happy 5.0 user. Thinking about adding the iZotope Ozone to my happy little arsenol of plug-ins. Any comments???

Thanks in advance.

The Reverb that comes with it is very nice.

Since I work primarily with acoustic music, the other 'effects' are not of much use to me, at least I haven't found good settings for them.

FWIW . .

Ted,

I've been using Ozone for a few months now, and it's been a very nice addition to my arsenal. It's a tool that really requires you to learn it inside and out before your start getting good results. I use it for both personal compositions (electronic stuff) and recorded projects (student recitals, concerts, etc). When it comes to modern, digital stuff, it's a no-brainer. You can essentially slap whatever settings you want in there, and it will probably end up sounding better. The exciter and maximizer really shine in this area, along with the reverb. It gives the hit hat a real nice "shunk, shunk" sound. In the acoustic arena, it can be a bit harder to use. With vocal pieces, you'll probably only use one or two tools out of the set, and even then you have to learn to use only subtle amounts, or else the content ends up sounding ridiculously squashed. But still, it can improve just about any stereo image you can think up.

Overall, I REALLY like it a lot. It gives a lot of my content that extra little clarifying edge that ends up making a huge difference when used properly. Kinda like car wax. Just keep in mind that unless you've got a hefty processor, you won't be able to monitor these sweet FX in real-time. It's a CPU hog. I use it with a 450 MHz machine, but it's worth the trouble. If you decide to get it, be patient in learning. Make sure to grab the demo first, if you haven't already.

Hope this helps,
Nick LaMartina

Nick Hit the nail on the head!
I use Ozone mostly for Mastering 50-50 to Waves. Im not to crazy about the Reverb but Its a very nice plugin. Does NOT run very well under 800mHz CPUs!!!!!!

You can go to www.cubase.net and go to the forums page..."cubase for windows". Do a search for Izotope. There were a few really long threads on it, interesting stuff. I'll be purchasing it soon as well...along side a Steinberg loudness maximizer too.[read the threads]
And maybe even the BBE Sonic Maximizer as well for some variety.
