So I'm pretty new to the ACID software, but recently got a Sony Vaio S and have been tinkering around with it. I love recording my piano through MIDI and Acid makes it really simple! I was trying to add a VST and I changed the VST search settings to the entire C drive (yeah...I don't what I was thinking). So everytime I attempt to start ACID it basically freezes trying to search the entire drive. Is there a way I can change the VST settings without loading or delete maybe a cache/log to fix this problem? Many thanks! You could try doing a software reset. Hold down the Shift & Ctrl keys while you start up ACID. This will force it to change all settings back to the original default values. Note however that this also resets all changes, including ones you might have wanted to keep, so you may have to redo all your customizations over again. |

With ACID not running, locate the following directory on your machine: C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Sony\ACID Pro\7.0 There is a file in this directory: acidpro.plugincache.xml Delete this file. Start ACID. ACID should reset its search directory for plug-ins and not search the entire system. Let me know if this works. Peter |

I did both the shift + control, and searched for the acidpro.plugincache.xml file. The ACID PRO\7.0 folder was already empty (maybe from the shift/control reset), but regardless it still is having trouble loading. It has some sort of C++ error message saying it's missing or can't find a file. I would just assume uninstall ACID and try to put it back on, but it didn't come with a disc as it was preinstalled on the Vaio. It also doesn't even show up in the add/remove programs, yet Vegas and Sound Forge do? |

I realize that you are not running ACID pro. In the Sony directory there should be a folder for AMS8. There should be an XML file located there for the plugin cache. Peter |
