Sony Convolution Kernel-Thoughts ?

In order to mitigate those pesky horizontal and vertical line ziggy-zaggies, I used to use a Gaussian Blur in the horizontal only set to 0.001
Great. It worked. Except that, well....it causes a bit of a blur....to the entire render. Well, duh-uh.

So, the other day, I discovered the Sony Convolution Kernel plug-in and, yes, it has a "Blur" preset. Well, the default Blur preset worked perfectly on those horizontal and vertical edges....and, so, I edited the original values to the absolute minimum.....and it still worked great...no perceptible blur to the render overall. Excellent.

My question is, what am I missing ? What am I losing or giving up using this plug-in.....seems to work great.
