I'll try to make this short and sweet, have 3.0 build 189, recorded vocal tracks onto project, beatmapped.saved project as zip. open project, no problems. added effects buss, sent signal from both vocal tracks to eff. (reverb). plays fine. hit save button, error message, file had to be renamed, click ok, close program. open program next session, open project, hit play, halfway through song error message, look at details, exception in acidk.dll etc etc. try to click OK on error message window, wont go away, can't select anything else, only recourse, ctrl-alt-del, close acid. I saw an earlier post with the same error and the only answer that he received was a "wow that looks serious". thought about upgrading to 3.0c but have been reading some of the horror stories here. maybe it's time to go back to 2.0? I've also written to tech support but no answer yet. I notice that SF has upgrades and "bug fixes" for just about everything including all the plug-in fx. Do I just start upgrading everything? I'm praying that someone can come up with an answer for this one (hopefully just operator error?)if not Cakewalk is looking better and better each day...

I think that you should back up all of your music files and reinstall acid. Most of those dll problems are fixed by reinstalling the software. See if that helps. billy

I had a different problem but with the same saving template...acid-zip. Once I started saving all my projects as .acd[acid project]file with "embedded audio" checked, I haven't had one problem with my file opening or closing corrupted. I think that it's a acd.zip problem and do not recommend using it untill the next upgrade[late december, early january?]. Though make sure that you don't have to reformat your drive[fresh install of the OS]. If you haven't in a while then it could be time to get it done...might clear up other problems as well.

Hello,

You should update everything, That's why they make updates, to fix problems like these and others.
You should also update all your device drivers as well, I would keep everthing as up to date as possible, Everything on my system runs great, and I update as soon as the updates are available.

See ya, Rockit

thanks for the input guys, I've narrowed it down to something with projects that have disc based tracks (beatmapped). Opened a Project with all loops or one shots, added an assignable effect, saved, opened, played, no prob. added an assignable effect to a project that had disc based tracks (and only put the eff send fader up on a loop track)played fine, saved fine , open, play, ERROR....Does anyone know if SF posts any of their known bugs? or which upgrade fixes what problems? (like most "major" software companies)

Dude with all your problems make sure that you email support with the info you posted here. I did when I was getting the very same stuff. Hopefully by the next revision most of this will be a thing of the past.

I for one am hoping for the integration of acid features into the newest version of Vegas...it would cut down my work significantly.[fingers crossed]

well folks, I may not be a computer wiz, but I sure am a persistant sob......I somehow decided to look through all my standard settings again and bingo, the graphics hardware acceleration was set all the way up. I guess thats stock for win ME. I moved it down 2 clicks to basic acceleration and the exception lockup problem is gone, not only that but it plays smooth with assigned effects on multiple disc based tracks, no problems.....I don't know about other versions of windows but the path is controlpanel/system/performance/advanced settings, graphics

Thats weird because with the setting all the way up your graphics card should be taking more care of the screen refreshing and not your host cpu. It should be worse but its better...can someone make any sense of this. Not to say that its a bad thing that you resolved your issue...just not sure why that worked.

well, guess what, I take it all back, today I came in and powered everything up and BOOM! error messages same as before. I'm stumped, I'm waiting for an upgrade disc that SF sent me 2 days ago, I just un-installed acid 3.0 and reinstalled, same crap, if I didn't have so many projects saved in 3.0 I swear, I'd send every SF program I've bought back to them and demand my money back, also, I E-mailed tech help 2 days ago about this, but I have a feeling that unless you fork over the 99 bucks a year for the tech help club or what ever the heck it's called you don't get an answer....
