Whenever I play a wave file in sound forge, a loud, crackling, clipping digital noise appears. I have tries to adjust the wave buffer size, but that was to no avail. This has never happened on any other operating system that I have run Sound Forge on except this one. Has anybody experienced this glich between Sound Forge & Windosw XP? How do I fix it?

Maestro,

Could you describe your hardware setup for us? Also, could you check and make sure DMA is enabled on your hard disk(s)? DMA being disabled is one possible cause of digital static. Let us know...

I am running six midi instruments and one acoustic instrument into a 16 channel mixing board. From there, I run the busses into a Fostex D-160 recorder. I then mix back into the board and and master via Sound Forge. I am using an HP Pavilion computer 1.3GHz AMD processor, 240 MB Ram 60.0 GD Hard Drive.

As far as enabling the DMA, could you tell me step by step how to do that? I looked in the device manager and every thing seems to be enabled that should be enabled. Am I missing something? I appreciate any assistance you can offer.

Eugene
