Specifically which properties are you talking about, Nel?

For the basics settings for your project, you'll get the best performance is you set up your project to match your source video as closely as possible. (There's even an option on the New Project set-up screen to match the project settings to your media.)

There are a few project properties that affect your outputting. Selecting a Frame Blend for interpolating your video is an example. But, for the most part, the specs of your output are set when you select your Render As option.

My main concern is in Project Properties, Video tab..... Field order and Pixel aspect ratio,,,,
If I understand your reply, by clicking on the Matching icon... it gives my the properties from my file..... I don't have to change them once it found it....

Then why does it give choice for Field order.... "To be viewed on TV" = Upper field,
My project will be seen on TV, but I work with computer monitors....
Ratio.... computer and TV.... ?
Are these properties for the work I am doing.... NOT for rendering, Is that right?

SO the second part of the window
What about; Full resolution rendering quality, Deinterlace method... v box for Adjust source media to better match project or render settings ...ARE THEY FOR RENDERING ?

Again, you'll get the best performance if your project specs match your media specs. So, if you're using Match Media, you don't have to worry about changing the interlacing. In fact, if you get in there and start messing around, you may end up messing things up. Just leave it as is.

When it comes time for your output, the program will, again, make any necessary interpolations for you, based on the Render As setting you selected. You can put, then, a DV-AVI into a project set up or DV (which is interlaced lower field first) and then output an MPEG (which is interlaced upper field first) and your MPEG should look great without any further intervention on your behalf.

Likewise, if you're selecting a Render As for outputting video for the web, the program will automatically make it progressive scan.

You just select the project properties to match your source video and then select the Render As option for your delivery device and the program will do the rest for you.

Thank you so much..... It is a lot easier....that way
Happy New Year...

Project properties above the line, including field order, PAR, and resolution, do not affect the render. The Render properties affect that.
