Subject:Can't save as MPEG Layer-3 .wav

Using SoundForge 4.5 on Windows 98SE I've run into a new problem. When trying to save any file as an MPEG Layer-3 .wav, I get a message "The file requires a Microsoft Audio Compression Manager (ACM) driver that supports the file's compression format". I've got the Fraunhofer Layer 3 professional codec installed and set as priority one. The proper l3codecp.acm as well as the MSacm32.dll are installed in c:\windows\system Up until about a week ago saving as MPEG Layer-3 .wav worked fine and has for as long as I've been using SoundForge, but it just suddenly gave up the ghost. So something somewhere overwrote a file or changed a registry setting or maybe I just deleted a file I need, but I can't find out what it is. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both SF and all my codecs and still no luck, it's the same error message. Does anyone have any idea on what needed file might be missing or corrupt to cause this problem? Oh, and one other thing that might be important. In the "Save as..." dialog under the "attributes" drop down list, when trying to use MPEG Layer-3 .wav as a final output, the attributes will show up only as "44,100 Hz stereo". In the past it would also show bit rate like "256 kBit/s 44,100 Hz stereo" but the bit rate is no longer listed. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, it's driving me nuts. Thanks. |
