Woah! - And here, in UK-land that's loike £76 (inc ruff VAT maths from me) quids!?!
If anybody in the UK is tempted; has the PC to support it; wants to have it in their back pocket for future UGs or just wants to giv'emselves a Seasonal Jolly, this is a fine way to enter the festivities: 12-12-12 .
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the way I am reading this I believe DVDA Pro 6 comes in the bundle which can't be purchased separately anyway so don't know what the real cost of this would be.
I recently purchased the Edit version of Vegas Pro when it was offered reasonably cheaply so the only real gain for me by upgrading would be the Pro version of DVDA. Can anyone using Pro 6 tell me is it worth upgrading yet again simply to get DVDA Pro 6 at this price .............are there many advantages in practical terms over the Studio version that I'm currently using?
Just yesterday I sent a support ticket to SCS... they made me buy update from 11 Pro to 12 Pro at 167 euro !!!
They took the 142 USD and converted to 142 EUR, then added taxes, total 167 euro.
From 10 to 11 they billed 139 dollars, conversion made be credit card, paid 127 EUR !
Now, 99 USD is 76 EUR....
Form 76 to 167... I paid 91 euro more than necessary, 120% more than necessary....
Edit: now, for most of us that did betatest and bought the upgrade, the 30 days for refunds are over.
Certainly a good price.
Doesn't feel quite so good when you've supported the product for 10 years contributed to the Beta programs and paid (£104 incl VAT) to upgrade as soon as the product's available.
I took the plunge today. Got V 12, DVDA 6 and Titler Pro for $ 125 including VAT. (Don't understand why they collect VAT on an exported item, though. I don't suppose they are forwarding money to Norwegian customs.) I have a new computer still in its cardboard box ...
musicvid, how did you find out about this offer? I just received an email reminder about the 25% season discount ending soon (Dec. 28) but nothing about the special V 12 day offer.
Received email today from SCS directly re the offer. As I hadn't upgrade from v 11, perhaps it's only sent to the select few who were slow to upgrade, I really don't know?
Received the same email today and took the plunge. I held off on V12 as I wasn't convinced that it was robust enough, but was wavering. Then, along comes this offer! $99.95 USD, which is about $95.00 AUD at the moment and no taxes of any sort to pay. Gotta be happy with that.
Got this email at exactly midnight eastern time. It's slightly odd, because it's not HTML formatted like Sony's advertising emails usually are.
And, at this price, I finally bit the bullet on V12 too. And this after a HORRIBLE beta test where I wasn't able to install or uninstall any of the beta versions (they just got stuck).
Thank goodness the full version of V12 installed without a hitch!
Note that there are no other discounts or freebies being offered with this promo - it's just Vegas Pro (and the titler, but I think that's stock).
"(Don't understand why they collect VAT on an exported item, though. I don't suppose they are forwarding money to Norwegian customs.) "
Exactly what I've always wondered, too. As a matter of fact, we the EU-ers should ask SCS if the do forward the VAT to our respective tax offices - and if not, demand them to stop collecting it. Even more so that as a Company, I do have the EU-registered VAT number, which enables me to buy VAT-exempt in any EU country...
I'm slightly tempted, but i know it would just sit on the shelf for years. I'd probably be better off waiting until i've got the hardware to run it on, and by that time version 14 or 15 will probably be out.
Great price, but it seems like a strange strategy to me to tempt all the loyal users with a $139.95 introductory offer, then go and undercut it by $40 just 6 weeks after it ends. I haven't even installed it yet!
I'm downloading the upgrade now - less than £80 inclusive of VAT!
One question....
Is the New Blue Titler that come with VP12 the same as the one I've already got with VP11? If not will it install correctly with the other version still on my PC?
Mike,
I think you got NB Light Blends free only if you took up the offer for NB Titler Pro 2.
from the email Upgrade to NewBlue Pro Titler 2 for only $99.95 — a $299.99 value! Plus, get a FREE copy of Light Blends, a $119.95 value. That's almost $420 of titling and transition technology for only $99.95!
Wovian,
yes, but check that you have the latest version 120815 of NBTP 1.0.
I have version 9, skipped 10 because it didn't have any features I needed at the time, but started using more H.264 so then wanted that integrated support because 9 requires quicktime and it's slow. But 10 wasn't available, and 11 was too buggy, so I waited. Then did some beta testing with 12, and it wasn't stable either.
I'm getting 12, just because then I can do some H.264 editing in Vegas, and hopefully they'll continue to improve the core stability of the program so it'll be supporting that effort, though I think final builds should be stable when you're asking people to pay to upgrade. If 13 is unstable, even at $100 I won't upgrade.
Okay, I bit the bullet too after getting the email and went for the upgrade offer going from 10. A pretty nice price for an upgrade including Vegas Pro12, NBTitler Pro and DA Pro6. Hoping it will be a smooth ride.
