Just asking the question thats been on everyones mind. Is Acid Pro reaching its end of life span? Thats a serious low price more than 25% that the other products are taking off. Thoughts and opinions? $139 usd... Wow... |

I'd say it's at least a recognition that, as it stands now, ACID pro is barely more capable than ACID Music Studio, and that no one in their right mind is going to pay $399.00 for a piece of software that is barely more capable than it's budget range counterpart for $64.99 Even at $184.95 as currently shown on the website I don't know if there is enough there to warrant the Pro version being almost 300% the price of studio If I were in the market to buy Acid software today I'd probably get Studio. The two or three things that pro can do that studio can't just aren't worth an additional $120 to me at $139 (for black Friday ?) I'd have to think about for a few minutes and then still probably get studio It means something though, maybe they're going to release something new and are trying to drum up some interest and revenue in this "Duke Nukem" of DAWs before they release an update or maybe they are trying to milk as much as possible before they dump it completely. Who knows, I tend to lean toward the milk and dump scenario but what do I know and Sony certainly isn't saying anything as usual. I do find it interesting to see where the official Sony Rep presence is on these forums however and it certainly isn't on the ACID forum with one maybe two replies a month in the last few months vs a much more active presence on vegas and soundforge fora. So either their own interest in the product is waning or the user base of newbies is no longer there to need questions answered. Just one opinion and of course YMMV Message last edited on11/20/2012 7:45:04 PM byinocmusic. |

I think the lack of investment and news regarding ACID has signaled the end of life. I would save the $139 and put it towards a modern DAW. |

Mixcraft Pro Studio 6 was my option. Easy to learn and fun to use. |

Please, considere Acid Music Studio 9.0. |

Try Reaper. Some parts are very much like Acid. |
