Hello, I am new here, and need advice. I have been trying out the demos of three products, Sound Forge, Acid, and Vegas Video, and still can't decide which, if any of these would best suit my needs. Primarily, I do sound for my wife, who is in theatre. The final product is cut to CD, and involves lots of individual sound cues, from sound effects, to mixing audio in multiple formats (sometimes complete songs, or just samples). Editing and mixing multiple tracks down to a single cue is a must, and I would like to get all of this in one product. My initial thought is that I would need to go with Vegas Video for how it handles multiple tracks (and the idea of eventually doing video cues is also a great enhancement), but the audio editing seems too limited. It looks as if all three products are almost needed for my needs, but that seems overkill. Is there any chance that these products will be combined at some point? Any and all advice is welcome. Actually, when you purchase Acid Pro 3.0, you also get lighter versions of Sound Forge and Vegas Audio. Sound Forge Studio XP and Vegas Audio LE are included. If you go to the product page and see the specs, maybe these versions are all you really need. Later. |

I don't understand what you mean when you say "the audio features seem limited" in Vegas? Vegas is definitely the program that you need to accomplish everything that you mentioned and it can do 99% of the extra features that sound forge has. The new version 3.0 can even burn directly to CD. The only feature I think you might not be able to do in Vegas that you can in Sound Forge now, is reverse audio, so that it plays backwards. My recommendation is to go with Vegas and you will discover all the features you're looking for once you become more familiar with the program.
