...I found it at Mars Music over the weekend for $79! Between Best Buy (Acid, Sound Forge & Vegas for $150) and Mars (Noise Reduction), I made out like a bandit this summer! Sorry, just had to gloat a bit. |

How did you buy it? I went to www.marsmusic.com but could find only ACID 2.0 listed. I really do not want to spend another 279 (450 Canadian $) to buy a third copy of the plug in... Peter Burn |

sigh, we don't have any Mars stores up here in Canada. Oh well, it is only money. I did, however, get the pioneer "real" DVD burner for 1000 CAD (650 USD). peter |

Hello, The reason you can't find it on Mars web site is because it's a clearance item, and only going to be available in certain stores as long as they last, But the sale started several weeks ago. If you go to a store that doesn't have a copy, you can have them check other stores to see where it's available. See ya, Rockit |

Well, I hit a dead end at Mars, and the link I listed below is not exactly a response to the topic of the original post, but at 8th Street Music http://www.8thstreet.com/product_search2.asp?combined=Sonic_Foundry&site=Go+to.... they have a combination of SF 5.0 AND NR 2.0 for $249.00. That's not bad for someone who doesn't have either one and wants both together. sk |

Well, David, a very special thanks to you for posting your original message! I went into the Mars store here in my area and the guy was decent enough to check the computer and find apparently the very last copy of Noise Reduction 2.0 in the Mars system, in Arlington, TX. He called, confirmed that they did have one last copy left, and that in fact the price was $79.98, and we faxed them a copy of my credit card and driver's license and they shipped it out the next day. So, yeah, I don't mind gloating a bit myself; thanks again for the tip! The most puzzled person of the whole deal was the guy at the local store here. Originally he was going to just transfer it from the Texas store to this store. But then he kept checking his monitor screen, then looking at me, then back at the screen. His screen kept showing $199.99 as the SALE price. I kept telling him that $79.98 was the sale price. He checked another screen, then said: "That can't be possible. At that price, it's about $80 below our cost!" I reminded him that the manager from the Texas store confirmed the price, but he said: "Well, it's gotta be some kind of regional sale thing; there's no way I can have that item transferred to this store. We don't wanna take that kind of hit. But they can ship it directly to you, and you'll save the sales tax so it'll be a wash between that and the shipping cost". I said: "Fine. That works for me." So in a couple of days I'll be up and running with NR 2.0. And the more I think about it, and the price for the bundled package at 8th Street Music (basically $250 for both), the more I think that Sound Forge 5.0 SHOULD come bundled with NR 2.x. I think people would get a lot more use out of NR than Acoustic Mirror. But that's just MHO. (And we all know I ain't that humble!) SK |
