Generally, the processors with HD 3000 or HD 4000 video hardware built on the die. The feature has to be enabled by a motherboard chipset. i.e. i7 3770 (k) on a Z77 motherboard.
So how exactly does one enable it? I have a brand new PC with an i7-3820 CPU, yet when I try to use Intel Quick Sync it notes that this feature is not available. This is very confusing.
Your motherboard has to support it and be enabled in bios. It also cannot work through a graphics card. You have to hook your monitor up to the MB's video out.
In a dual monitor setup you can use a graphics card and quick sync on the other monitor.
Only on a ASUS enabled MB can you use the HD4000 graphics to assist a graphics card using Virtu MVP software.
I would suggest you get the best info from your computer OEM.
Intel i7-3820 CPU is Sandy Bridge-E LGA 2011 socket processor and doesn't have imbedded video. Only Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge LGA 1155 socket processors have Quick Sync.
