Which will come 1st, BItwig or Acid Pro 8? Acid has been my main program since '99...I've taught so many people how to use it and promoted it so much over the last 13 years but I don't know if I can wait any longer :( |

So you're saying that suddenly, somehow, for some indeterminate reason, ACID Pro 7 has stopped being useful for you? |

Chienworks - There is not a feature you would like to see in an Acid Pro update? I would like to see audio to midi conversion, true 64 bit support to take advantage of more than 4GB RAM, easier sidechain options, per note automation and even a Mac version. I had the trial version and decided to stick with Music Studio for now considering the silence of Sony on an Acid Pro 8. Acid is still the best solution I have found for my workflow and style...I will give you that! Working with loops is so easy in Acid! I have confidence that Sony will continue to support Acid Pro. The wait seems to be unpleasant for some while others don't seem to mind and still others are considering moving on (if haven't already). :-) |

Oh, if they made ACID a lot more like Vegas i'd be happier, for sure. But then, i've already got Vegas so it's what i use. The point i'm making though is that ACID is certainly no less useful and capable now than it was when it was released. Strangely though, we see post after post after post from folks who seem to be of the opinion that ACID is now broken somehow because it's 4 years old. It works for you, or it doesn't. What you do based on that status is up to you. |

I disagree... Acid is becoming less useful. As long as it is stuck on 32bit os. All product os has switched to 64x and it is now the standard. I can crash the plugin windows everytime i work in Acid Pro. That is unacceptable in 2012. Acid Pro shows its age. I love a lot of things about Acid. Its simplicity of use. But its now feeling like driving a chevette under the hood. |

No, that doesn't make it less useful. It's exactly as useful as it was when it was released. It didn't wear out and rust like a Chevette did. Your expectations have grown, true. So that means it's up to you to decide whether your expectations require you to move on or not. It does not mean that ACID needs to meet your new expectations. Of course, as more and more people have expectations that ACID doesn't meet, it's market share will diminish. |

If 64 bit really is standard then Acid really is less useful. If it is causing crashes on new systems that's a problem. Also, while expectations might change it is quite possible that people had those expectations before Acid 7 was released. I've been wanting better search functions and file replace functions since Acid was first released by Sonic Foundry. I kept hoping. Expectations and usefulness are really horses of different colours. But in some ways I think Sony's policy of keeping people in the dark is worse than the lack of updates. |

It is sad to me that we have resorted to talking about other DAW systems because there is nothing amazing happening with Acid Pro. Quite sad. |

"Oh, if they made ACID a lot more like Vegas i'd be happier, for sure" I second that ! The differences - the ones that aren't so intuitive - are why I still prefer Vegas for straight audio ! geoff Message last edited on11/6/2012 6:21:20 PM byGeoff_Wood. |

"I can crash the plugin windows every time i work in Acid Pro." Yeah ? How do you do that - load up dodgy plugins ? geoff |

If you consider izotope dodgy then thats what im using. It has more to do with acids capacity to handle plugins and its lack of resource power under the hood. |

Just to answer the op's question: it appears Bitwig will come first. We have no way of knowing what is in the works for Acid. Bitwig does look interesting and I like how they have at least been upfront with their potential customer base and have announced that it is on the way. With that said I would gladly take an Acid Pro 8.0 over a Bitwig 1.0! :-) |

Yes! Bitwig will come first! It's already pretty much ready for release and well Sony...Mum's the word with Acid Pro. I am curious as to how many products Sony will release prior to an update to Acid Pro if there ever will be an update to Acid Pro at all! Vegas has had 4 versions, Sound Forge Pro has gotten a Mac Version, Spectra Layers Pro has been released for MAC and PC... And even Sound Forge Pro 10 has had an update this past month. |
