Subject:Trial Catch22 ....

Someone at SCS has a sense of humour...

The new SpectraLayers update version 1.0.21 released today "Removed a limitation that prevented the trial version of SpectraLayers from playing back with sample rates above 24 kHz. " according to the release notes, which was the likely cause for the Trial version failing to work (play) in my setup - but I do not know that for sure.....

Great; except that this update is way way too late for me to test as my Trial period expired days ago

Unfortunately I don't think its funny

Agreed. Since I started my first tests, I've upgraded my graphics card, which I now can't test because the trial has expired. Reinstalling the updated download doesn't help ... it seems my computer is registered and I can never again test SpectraLayers.

Seriously, Sony? With such a complex product, how do you expect people to get a handle on what it does when you won't let us run it? The trial is already badly hobbled (24kHz?) apart from the time limit, but if you really must have a time limit as well, why not limit it to, say, 15 hours of use, rather than 15 days? Some of us have day jobs which means the real trial period is basically whatever spare time we might have over two weekends.

Time-limited trials also don't help if a prospective buyer is comparing your product to a competitor. I've spent time testing RX2 in the meantime and would be curious to look at SpectraLayers again, but I guess that's not going to happen now.
