How long do you wait for a serial number??

golli wrote on 11/3/2012, 10:20 AM
Good day. I purchased the (Vegas 12 Pro) upgrade 31-10-2012. I am waiting for the serial number in my Email postbox. Have they switched to a new tactic??

There is no support to be had, unless I can provide A serial number, but that is just what I'm waiting for!! The Q&A section has no answer for me.

Does it really take 3 days to generate a serial number ??

You should be able to log onto your account and find all serial numbers.

Did you check your junk-mail/spam folder?

I think you won't see your serial number in your account here until you have installed the product and registered it online.

Did you order the download version or the boxed version? I finally ordered the download update to Vegas Pro 12 around 11 PM (US EDT) Oct 30, and got my email with the serial numbers within minutes. Check your spam filters or junk email folder. Make sure your order didn't use an old or obsolete email address.

If you order the boxed version, I think you have to wait until you receive the boxed product. The serial numbers are inside the box and Sony can't email them to you because they don't know what box you'll be getting. (I'm not saying that would be impossible to do, but that's just the way it is...)

You should receive it almost instantaneously after the purchase. I'd follow the preceding suggestions. If you can't find your serial number on your account/softward page, I'd assume the order didn't take, Can you check online to see if your credit card was charged?

If none of the above, I'd resubmit your order.

Like Tim, I got mine online. My edit suite isn't connected to the net so I used the "register from another computer "option and had my serial number less than a minute after I submitted the registration form.

Are you guys talking about seeing the serial numbers in the https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/myaccount/mysoftware automatically after ordering the software online? I don't think that happens. (But I might be misunderstanding what you're saying...)

I got my serial numbers via email (the email address you supply with your order), but even now -- several days after my order -- Vegas 12 and my serial numbers don't show up in my "mysoftware" page of this forum, and they won't until I install the product and enter the numbers myself, and register it online. After all, I could have bought the product as a gift for someone else to install.

(In fact, I bougth Vegas Pro 11 last year but never installed it because of all the problems people were reporting. I finally downloaded 11 and installed it on the 30th just so I could register it and then be eligible for the upgrade discount on 12. <fingers crossed...> )

But... make sure the order screen has a current email address when you order. I noticed when placing my order that my order email address was using an "old" email (still active, but a "family" email addr) and I changed it to "my" email address when I placed the order. The OP might have to go through the motions of pretending to order something else (but not completing the order) just to see what email address pops up on the order screen.

I bought the download version. And I got an order number on my account here, but am still waiting on the serial, to reach my email.

How do I pretend to order, without ordering??

golli,
add an item to your shopping cart and when you're in step 2, you'll see your email address. Do not continue, just go back to step 1, remove the item and update cart. Then you'll have nothing in your cart.

You may have already done this, but check My Account/My Orders. A complete order history should display for you.

I received the serial number email instantly. I installed VP12, but not DVD-A because I already have that installed so there was no need install the same thing again. For this reason, my newest DVD-A license doesn't show under My Account/My Software. I wrote to Customer Service asking them to fix this. Given I do have the serial number, I suppose I could install the newest one and that would cause it to display under My Account/My Software.

In your case I would guess your serial number email went to the Spam forlder? If it's not in Spam or you have your Spam set to delete upon arrival, contact Customer Service pronto.

Good luck!

golli,
after you order, 'confirm@sonycreativesoftware.com' sends the order confirmation and details etc., usually almost instantly. For many, like me, it took less than 2 mins on Oct.31. Sorry that you have trouble with this.
Btw, 'that mailbox will not accept incoming mail'
Tim L wrote on 11/3/2012, 3:36 PM
Do you have an email from confirm@sonycreativesoftware.com? That email should contain the serial numbers you are looking for. Look in the section "Your Downloadable Software" -- your serial numbers for Vegas Pro and DVD Architect should be right there.

I regret to say that I have not received an email from "confirm@sonycreativesoftware.com" 3 hours + after I sent them!!

..... because "this mailbox will not accept incoming mail" according to the email I received from that address; therefore if you want Customer Service you must go to http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/support/contactus.asp and fill out a form from there, remembering to give them your Order Number etc etc

Filled out the "Submit a question to our support team." form hours ago and just got the reply: "Your question has been received". Nothing else.

@ChristoC > are you a Sony support person??

If you are referring to my mailbox, not accepting incoming mail, then I get regularly mail from Sony, telling me that "this and that software is out" or "Last Chance for................" and all that. So I dont get the email that I need. I have had this email account for many years without a problem.

For those who need reminding SCS email servers were seriously compromised in a security breach with personal info being 'stolen" about 1 year ago.
Sony's recovery method at that time to get everything restored did not totally work and lots of accounts were corrupted and info lost. Sony knows about it. You need to have your account fully reset.

CALL them by phone to get your account fully working again.

Golli,
did you ever follow Tim L's advice "to go through the motions of pretending to order something else (but not completing the order) just to see what email address (of yours) pops up on the order screen."
And the "this mailbox will not accept incoming mail" notice has nothing to do with your own email or mailbox. It's a footnote in the order confirmation emails that "confirm@sonycreativesoftware.com" sends customers.

> golli @ChristoC > are you a Sony support person??
No!

> golli If you are referring to my mailbox, not accepting incoming mail, ....
No ... as vkmast clarified, sending mail to "confirm@sonycreativesoftware.com" is useless as Sony themselves state that "this mailbox will not accept incoming mail". So you need to contact them by some other means....

All is resolved!!! Finally got my serial number !! :-)

It was the incident system, in the custcenter that came thru for me.

The culprit is believed to be; that I'm not getting the emails because the domain that I'm under, blocks automated email systems.

I just wanted to share my joy & happiness. And let people know that SCS is hard at work behind the curtains. Even though it does not feel like it, sometimes.

golli, glad to hear you are all set.

videoITguy, I think you may be thinking of the PlayStation Network breach. Those servers are completely separate from the Sony Creative Software environment.
videoITguy wrote on 11/6/2012, 6:13 PM
Thanks Paddy, I think it became unclear when the hacked systems were not publicly desiginated (ha, for security reasons, no less) and some believed that deep tunnels had been dug into the SONY framework for collecting personal info.

Good to know there is an absolute wall between the different systems. Thanks.

Oh, ForumAdmin, while you're here ...

What are the chances of getting the serial number displayed under My Account / My Orders when the order is complete? It must be assigned by then, since most of us usually get the email within seconds. That would save the problem this whole 'not getting the email' causes in one swell foop!
