Subject:Won't go past the splash logos on Acid or Vegas (pro 3.0)!!

I have acidpro 3.0 and vegas not going past the splash windows. Acid pro says "Acid has caused na error in KERNEL.32.DLL Acid will now close. Vegas Audio LE says thatVegas has caused an error in HCWSOLOCAP .AX Vegas will now close. Is the kernel file a graphics file? Anyway, I'm not sure how to fix these problems. I restarted my c omputer after each install and entered my registration codes correctly.

I know that my computer has fit all the requirements for these particular programs. I would like to know if this has something to do with conflicting programs (I have wintv 2000 which also has a VCD program. I am not sure if the drivers are conflicting or what....)

I think what might have caused the problem is the Acid pro insisted on installing over the direct x version I have which is already current, but then I upgraded past the version on the acid cd once I experience the problem (the 8.1 version of direct x and still continue to experience error messages......) What should I do?

Sounds like a plugin of sometype is causing the problem. What owns "HCWSOLOCAP.AX "? (Do a properties on this file from explorer and you should be able to tell what it belongs to.)

You could try renaming HCWSOLOCAP.AX to HCWSOLOCAP.FOO (or something else) this way ACID/Vegas wont attempt to look at this plug.

The HC... file is a plug-in...I renamed it...Thanks! I got at least one program working! I also copied the file into a folder of other files of which I changed names to avoid any conflicts in the future. Cool. Now I gotta get Acid Pro to work...

FONZE50,

Two things I can recommend to you...

Concerning the HCWSOLOCAP.AX file:

While renaming the file is fine (sometimes I just move them to the "volatile AX files" directory on my disk), you may wish to see what that plug-in is for. There's a really nice program from AnalogX called DXMan that allows you to root through a list of all your DX plug-ins. It can provide you with the name of a plug-in, the actual filename, and let you tweak with the settings to see if you can't find something that may be contributing to a problem. Additionally, you can remove plug-ins if necessary. The best part is that it's freeware. You can find it at:

http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/audio/dxman.htm

Concerning ACID crashing:

Could you give us some information on your computer? Most importantly, tell us what OS version, sound card, DirectX version, and processor type you have. Any other information would be helpful as well. If we know your computer better, it will be easier to find a possible solution.

Regards,
Nick LaMartina
