Hello..

I edited a .mp3 and then saved it in .wav format to make sure there is no disturbance at the background. Now, when I try to convert the .wav back to .mp3 there is hiss sound at the back. I am a newbie to sound editing. Please help.

If possible Email me at kalkamataDELETETHIS@yahoo.com without the **DELETETHIS** IN the mail..

Are you using the .mp3 option in Sound Forge to save it? If you are, you might want to check the bit rate that's being used. It seems like the default comes up as 64 Kbps FM radio quality. I've ended up saving at that rate by accident and it doesn't sound too good. So that might be a place to start.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m under the impression that an MP3 is solely a “final presentation” format for a completed project. An MP3 suffers from degradation with each save, no? So the more you alter an MP3 and save it, the worse it will sound.

Hmmmmm… Does anyone know if converting an edited MP3 to a (wav.) file will avoid this and preserve a file’s sound quality, just as long as it's not converted back into an MP3?

Well...

you r right... in saying if you want to edit a .mp3 then first save it in .wav format and then try to edit it.. if you edit and try to resave an edited mp3 file again it will go through some degradation and definitely wouldn't sound too good. so basically edit in wav and then save in mp3 again if that's wat you want.
