Did I miss something in SF Mac? No CD burning? Or is this one of those things missing in the initial version that's going to be in an upcoming update along with the missing batch converter/processor, Acoustic Mirror and other things that were useful tools in SF Win that have gone MIA in SF Mac? Shouldn't have to use iTunes or another program to do CD burning. Was hoping for an updated CD Architect to be rolled into SF Mac. As it stands this version as it stands does not work for me. Was hoping for a solid replacement for the now discontinued Bias Peak and alternative to the more expensive Steinberg Wavelab ($500 US) or Adobe Audition ($350 US). Long time SF user since back to SF6 and still waiting for a proper SF Mac with the functionality of SF Win. |

Mike/SCS answered this in the forge windows forum. This is version 1.0. There are features planned. Please submit any feature requests so we can make sure that the most valued features are prioritized. Peter |

You said: Mike/SCS answered this in the forge windows forum. This is version 1.0. There are features planned. Please submit any feature requests so we can make sure that the most valued features are prioritized. My reply: No one answered anything about cd burning in SF Mac in the SF Win forum. Submit a feature request for something that should have been in the initial release? That's ridiculous. Totally inexcusable Sony dropped the ball big time on this. Meantime you're losing customers with all the stuff you're missing that should have made it over from SF Win. Jack PS: Where do we submit feature requests? There's no thread here for that. Sorry you feel the way you do. You are correct that Mike did not specifically mention CD burning. I did not mean to imply this, but rather that Mike indicate that this is just the start, and that we are very interested in what features users need. We are very excited about Forge for Mac. We have big plans moving forward and are looking forward to all the feedback we can get. We knew going into this that Forge Windows is a very mature and feature complete product. Forge Windows is nearly 20 years old. That is unique in the software world for a product to have such longevity. This presented us with a large problem of deciding whether to make Forge Mac a feature to feature equivalent or approach it from a new OSX app. The former approach would have taken a considerably longer time frame to accomplish. We believe we provided the core tools and are in a position to provide those features and workflows users need going forward. All software needs a core foundation that is built upon. Just look at how Forge, Vegas, and ACID have changed and adapted to users' needs and technology since they were first introduced. We made choices based upon the fundamental purpose Forge is intended to solve. Forge for Mac will not stand still. It will evolve as our Windows products have. I understand that some will like this evolution, and others will not. We strive to do what our users need us to do. We have a deep commitment to it and all of our products. With Forge Mac we are entering into a new but legacy approach here. We are doing everything to delight our customers and make them an integral part of the direction our products take. We hope to prove this by our actions and interactions as well as with our products. It will not happen overnight, but as we get better at this, we believe that our users will see our commitment. Forge Mac is a solid entry and is primed to move forward in the direction our users demand. While we are vey excited about being on OSX, this in no way should be interpreted that we will be ignoring Windows. We offer the demo version so uses can evaluate if it meets their needs today. We encourage users to evaluate our offerings before licensing them. You can suggest features here or use the product suggestion form on our Support menu above. I know that Forge for Mac is not yet listed as a specific choice, and I will make sure it gets added to make it easier. What features did you expect wrt CD burning? What Forge Windows has or are you looking for the complete functionality of CD Architect? Peter Message last edited on10/13/2012 6:41:05 PM bypwppch. |

What CD burning features would I have liked to have seen in SF Mac? Certainly at least as much as what was in SF Win but ultimately as much as what was in CD Architect with support for vst and au plugs on the Mac. As it stands SF Mac does NOT meet my needs for today. Nor does it for many others that don't post here. And we can't afford to wait for Sony to put in the things it should have in the first place. I understand it was a complete rewrite from what was in SF Win but that's no excuse for what happened. Sony should have kept what is an immature product off the market until it was ready for prime time. Sony should have put up a survey on what end users wanted in a Soundforge on Mac. As it stands, from what I've seen on another forum I post on where I announced SF Mac was now available (DUC) users that were interested in SF Mac are going elsewheres for wave editor and CD burning programs - namely Steinberg Wavelab and Adobe Audition. Can't wait for SF Mac to become mature. Saddens me to say but after being a long time user of SF Win, longingly waiting for SF Mac, I'm going with Adobe Audition. Sony should have known the market it was getting in to with Mac software. Sadly it didn't. Jack |

I am not offering excuses or apologies for Forge Mac. Simply stating the reality of the process. We are very aware of our competition. It is even harder when we are competing against our selves. Forge Windows has set the bar very high for us. You made a decision based upon your need for CD burning and other requirements. I am sure that others potential users of Forge Mac have done so as well based upon their current needs. We understood this from the start. The diversity of our user base and their needs are not based on a single workflow. We believe that Sound Forge Mac meets the needs of many users today. I take your comments as a motivation to get it right. I am not please that we did not offer you what you expected or needed. I understand your frustration. All feedback, whether negative or positive, will help us to deliver the solutions and workflows that our customers demand. We don't expect users to take our word for this. Only our actions will prove our commitment. We believe that we have a compelling and competitive entry into the OS X space. We are just getting started. You have been an active member of our forums for a long time. Even if you are not a user of Forge Mac today, I hope you will continue to provide us your opinions on the direction we are heading. If you choose not to, that will be regrettable, but we will take your feedback today in a positive way to deliver the best tools for the tasks our users need to solve. Your feedback is always welcome as it will help us to prioritize and evaluate. I look forward to your comments as Forge Mac moves forward. Your honest and candid comments only help us in our development. Peter Message last edited on10/14/2012 7:04:53 PM bypwppch. |

Thank you Peter for your reasoned response. I truly hope and expect Sony to bring SF Mac up to a par (or even exceed) what was done in SF Windows. If it wasn't for my Windows computer going kaput on me I would have stayed with SF Win. Have several Macs here, upon none of them do I have the desire to run any form of Windows. That's why I was looking for a version of SF that would run native on the Mac operating system. I do love the way SF Win works as my workflow on that is as easy as walking from one place to another. Hopefully SF Mac will allow me, in the future, to make that journey again. As much as anyone I appreciate that Macs and Windows machines work different according to their operating systems and I find the Mac OS simply works best for me at this point in time. Wishing Sony well on this adventure and I'll be checking in from time to time to watch progress on this. Jack |

Peter, I have been a SF user since very early days. I have, many years ago, moved into the Mac as it is much more reliable than a PC. However, I have had to maintain a PC in my studio just for the use of Sound Forge/CDA. I was also disappointed to see there was no CD burning in SF Mac. I think for me and many others bringing out CD architect for Mac would solve all of our problems. As for now, I'm going to use Reaper and keep my eyes on your progress. I certainly have had good luck with Sound Forge and hope to in the future. BTW, I did call and speak to someone regarding this issue and they thought it was in the program through file pull down. Maybe Sony just forgot to put it in. Cheers, Jeff |

We know you guys are capable of adding the great missing features of the Windows version of SF into the Mac version, but it should not take too much longer if you want to get and keep Mac customers in the fold. I am patiently waiting for all the other features to be added, and I hope you guys are not planning to omit any of them. Updates need to happen quick, SONY has the money so let's get it poppin'!! |

Like many others here...old timer: vera 1.0 SF and a recent convert to the new Retina PBP. I am running Pro 1.0 and it works on my machine. I would like to request the full blown CD Architect program for Mac as opposed to the burn disk at once version. I do have a service tag on another more important issue: my Universal Audio plugs are not showing up even though they are in both Nuendo and Logic. Is there no internal bit bridge to enable 32 bit plug ins or is there some other problem I am missing? I think I need to publically state that even though I own nearly every product you make (not an Acid fan, sorry) and have just purchased the MAC "PRO" software there is ZERO phone support! not even for 30 days after purchase. This seems a rather large sticking point what with all the issues people are having. I suggest you seriously rethink that omission! Or there will be alot of returns! Still waiting for a reply to my service tag. |
