Subject:Did Sony Update SFAudio Studio 10 Without Notice?

I use AudioStudio only occasionally, so I don't check for updates very often. I am using Build 177, which I downloaded and installed shortly after it was released (I can't find an Administrator sticky with the release announcement, but a user on this Forum posted notice of 177's availability in February of this year). When I visited the Updates page this morning, the version of SoundForge Audio Studio 10 available for download is "Build 178." There's no mention of this update on the product page, no Administrator sticky in this Forum, no user posting, no article in the "Knowledge Base," and the Release Notes still show Build 177 as the latest update. I downloaded the Build 178 file, but haven't installed it. In Windows Explorer, viewing the file's Properties doesn't reveal a version number, but it does show a signature that dates to June of this year. The file is a few thousand kb bigger than Build 177, which is typical of updates. Does anybody (*cough*) Sony (*cough*) have any info on whether this is really an update? Thank you in advance for your help --Jeff |

A few months ago SCS issued a subsequent build for Sound Forge Pro-10.. no release notes or other info. I suspect the same thing with AS. 'SonySQAPete' kindly responded to our inquiry. "Sometime last year we'd discovered a bug that impacted all of our applications that'd manifest in a situation where they (the applications) simply wouldn't run when launched on one certain, rare type of low-power CPU. (An AMD C-50, to be exact.) The bug was quickly fixed and the fix was ported into all of our applications over the course of the normal update cycle, including Sound Forge. That update was 10.0d. There were no release notes, as the bug we were fixing wasn't something that the overwhelming majority of our users would ever see. I hope this answers your questions about 10.0d." Hey thank you for letting me know. Sounds like it's a good idea to install that update. Thanks again. |
