Does anyone know if the Mac version has the WAVE HAMMER and the NOISE REDUCTION tools/plugins? Not looking to use the iZotope ones as I currently don't use them in the PC Based workflow.

Thanks

Sandy

Sandy,

So far, no Hammer or NR. I need these features too, and I'm not sure the iZotope replacements will be as good or easy to use, since the demo feature is not working for me.

Hopefully these are on the slate for future releases.

Rob.

The iZotope suite provides noiseprint-based noise reduction, multiband compression, and seven other plug-ins. iZotope’s noiseprint-based tools are superb, as we all know. We’re working on getting trial access to the iZotope suite. In the meantime, if you’re familiar with the iZotope mastering plug-ins bundled with the PC version, they’re the same as what we have on SFPM, so you can use those as a point of reference.

Ummmm… while we’re on the topic of noise reduction… :-) …the noise reduction tools available in SpectraLayers Pro are astonishing. Check out the Neil Armstrong demo on the website. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. The magic is in being able to create a single noiseprint comprised of separate frequency bands.

I know this is supposed to be about Sound Forge, but I couldn’t resist name dropping SpectraLayers Pro here, seeing that SFPM and SLP are a perfect pair.

Thanks Rob -

Need the same tools across the platforms, and the 'Hammer' and the Noise reduction (mostly for hiss removal) are 2 tools I use a bunch and are simple to get good results with.

I'm sure the iZotope tools are good, just not using them.

Mike -

Thanks for the input on SF Mac. I'm the PC user in a slew of Mac folks. Was going to get one of the editors on SF for mac but sounds they will not quite be doing the same process if they do.

The wave hammer and the noise reduction are 2 that are heavily used, hope they make it into the mix at some point.

The wave hammer function is under Process - Normalize. It is somewhat different than wave hammer, but is working well for me.

The Noise reduction is under Effects - Other - Denoiser. It is similar to the NR of the PC version. I was easily able to get rid of hiss in my recordings is a few minutes.
