New V11 stuck at "Initializing DirectX plug-ins"

Hi. This is my second time trying the new version of V11. The first time went quite well so I thought I would save the project as a V11 file. Now when I try to start V11 again, I am stuck on New V11 stuck at "Initializing DirectX plug-ins". What is so frustrating is that I had one simple change to make and it was supposed to be done tonight. Does anyone know a way to force Vegas to start when it gets hung up like this?

Edit: OK, it is just the 32bit version that is stuck. I am now working in the 64bit version. I will figure out how to fix the 32 bit version when I have more time.

Do you have Protools installed?

Yes I do. Is it related? It's just the 32 bit version that is stuck it seems.

There was a thread on the Movie Studio forum -- guess it got deleted because the guy was so obnoxious. Might be worth looking into at your end, maybe installing on a machine that doesn't have protools.

If it comes to that, I'll just live without the 32 bit version. I have one computer and it needs to have Pro Tools on it.

Have you tried running Windows Task Manager to see if another instance of the Vegas process is already running? This will cause a new instance to hang on startup.

This is how I sorted a similar problem I had on my system with New Blue

Just had the same issue as you know and found that updating my New Blue 4 has cured it.

I just had a crash in V11 using the newest version of ProDad Heroglyph. Now the 64bit version of V11 won't get past the "initializing DirectX plugins" message either.

OK, V12 purchased. No problem starting and so far working smoothly.

I just discovered this happening to me. I fired up the 32 version so I can use a favorite FX. Hangs at "Video Factory".

I tried disabling NewBlue and it still won't start. Vegas 10 32bit works.

Any way to tell what plugin it's hanging at?

EDIT: I had it set to run in windows 7 compatibility mode as this was once believed to improve stability. Turned off compatibility mode and it starts up. I figured this out by using the sony knowledge base.
