V11, V12 Crashes with Video Effects

V11 has done this every version, trial of V12 is doing the same. Both 32 and 64-bit. All versions. When working with a project and adjusting parameters, Vegas will crash withing a 5-10 adjustments and/or undo. Turning off GPU does not affect it.

I found others with same issue and only known workaround was running Vegas in Windows 7 compatibility mode. However, performance drops, media manager does not work etc.

Short of reloading Windows 7 from scratch - anyone figured that exact cause of this?

In V11 when I adjusted dynamic ram preview to 0 and stopped using the external monitor and instead docked the video preview into my second monitor my crashes went from dozens to per day to less that 1 per week.

I was also able to come out of compatibility mode and leave GPU accl on.

I'm somewhat of the suspicion stephenvv, that running Vegas 12 on the same system that one have Vegas 11 installed on, will cause it to also have issues.

Steve, the crashes happened long before I put V12 on the system.

TIm - thanks for the info. But that's still a workaround since I have a broadcast monitor. Did you try external monitor via Decklink or something?

stephenvv, You are missing my point. To clarify, i was actually saying to have
Vegas 12 alone installed and running on your system, (NOT along with Vegas 11).

No I didn't try using an external monitor as you describe. At some point I do need to move to a broadcast monitor.

If V11 and V12 cannot be installed on the same machine in my mind that equals bad coding and Sony should have stated not to do it in the release notes. One program not in use should NEVER affect another program in use.
