Vegas 12 upgrade and NewBlu Titler 2.0+LightBlends

xberk wrote on 9/26/2012, 3:40 PM
Ok. Seems the only upgrade path is to Vegas Pro 12.0 (which inlcudes DvdArch). I was hoping they'd have a cheaper upgrade to Vegas Pro 12 Edit as I already have DvdArch 5.2 ...

But .. ok... How about the $99.95 for New Blue Titler 2.0 with a FREE LightBlends (worth $119.95 ?) ..
I'm tempted to do it. I hardly use the New Blue 1.0 that comes Free with Vegas .. Does anyone think New Blue Titler 2.0 is worth that price with the LightBlends tossed in for FREE?

xberk, Several threads ago I pulbished a long form analysis of the the Total Cost of Ownership for customers owning VegasPro8 through VegasPro 12 Upgrade - don't know if you examined that but to your point on pricing strategy.

Word is on the street that you are going to eventually be able to achieve VegasProEdit12 for about $275-$350 US retail. This would be the lowest retail point ever established for the purchase of VegasPro.

If you are a customer for upgrade path - perhaps you skipped problematic Version 11 and you are upgrading from Version 10 (and don't care about DVDArchPro) then it might be an attractive price point for you.

BUT, I hardly think so, because you can get the full version 12 VegasPro collection for $140.00 US retail offer. And keep in mind that Vegas12 is not fully functional unless DVDArchPro is installed - regardless of whether you plan to run the separate app.

Sony is holding the price point up - it is advantageous and fitting for the market - so it goes.

You are not alone - here are other comments to date:

Anyone know where the upgrade price is for Vegas Pro 12 Edit?
Many of us are upgrading, not buying new. We already have DVD Architect 5.2 and Titler Pro 1.

On the upgrades page, why is there no option for Vegas 12 Pro Edit? I already have DVDA 5.2. Don't want to buy it again, even with the upgrade price. I just want the upgrade to V12 only. But that option isn't there. What the heck, Sony?

Thanks. I do have V11 and was happy with it. I think I get the pricing for upgrades now .. .

Is NewBlue TItler 2.0 + Lightblends worth the extra $99.95 ?? Any opinions out there?

... have you tried NewBlue Titler Pro yet? It crashed on me. Also BBC8 Type on Text tool caused Vegas 12 to crash as well. Not having much luck with text tools.

Somehow I wish they had a demo for NBT 2.0 and more details about what it does more than NBT 1.

I also have Light Blends, it be great if they could substitue another plugin on this offer.

Anyhow, I think I will wait before I move on to V12, but will have a go with the trial.

I am very interested in this as well. For $99, it better have some added features that should blow me away (at almost the cost of the Vegas update)

Ros, what is light Blends? What is it used for?

anyone bought NBT2.0 care to share their experience with it?

New Blue's website seems unaware of the new release. Everything is rushed now a days, so I will do the opposite & be patient not upgrading anything until specifics are listed.

RoS - I believe you can download a demo of Titler Pro 2.0 from this page:

Thanks Leee, I will download the trial.

CorTed: Light Blends is a collection of transitions in which several I do like very much:

Can ProTitler 2.0 live on the same box as ProTitler 1.0 or will it update to 2.0?

Just hoping to compare the features without crippling what's already in place.

For me, NewBlu Titler 1.0 with Vegas Pro 11 never worked once; it crashed Vegas every time.

It's hard to trust NewBlu with an upgrade with that track record.

drmathprog says "For me, NewBlu Titler 1.0 with Vegas Pro 11 never worked once; it crashed Vegas every time."

I never installed NewBlu when I installed Vegas 11 and it never crashed on me.

I believe all the problems people are having with V11 is to do with NewBlu.

I have installed V12 and not NewBlu and so far so good.

Yes, Titler 2.0 is now available for Vegas. It is possible to have version 1.0 and 2.0 installed at the same time but you can also uninstall 1.0 and then install 2.0. Here's some of the major changes found in version 2.0:

• Custom 3D Bevels – Create a unique bevel on any style layer to maximize 3D impact
• Wide angle – Adjust the camera lens of the scene for extreme or subtle perspective
• Video as texture – Apply video as a texture to any style layer or shape for dynamic compositions
• Custom texture position – Now adjust the position, scale and size of any image or video texture
• True motion blur – Output smooth, realistic motion titles at the time of render
• Multiple light sources – Create the perfect mood and space for your titles with lighting control
• Light Keyframing – Manipulate three different kinds of lights in space with keyframes
• Material shine control – Dial in the perfect amount of surface shine for each style layer
• New multi-point shape – Design stars, bursts and radial objects with this new vector shape
• EPS file support – Import vector files and extrude them for 3D logos and custom objects
• Text-to-text transitions - Now use any NewBlue transition to morph one text into another using transitions between paragraphs

jetdv;

Great.

I'm assuming that it is your assertion now that whatever issues existed between Titler V1 and Vegas 11 have been found and fixed in Vegas 12 and/or Titler V2. Is this correct?
jetdv wrote on 9/27/2012, 11:46 AM
I'm sure some have been found and that some still exist. Most of the remaining bugs we are receiving we've not been able to duplicate in-house so we're working with the people reporting the issues and getting logs to determine the point of failure.

NB Titler Pro 2 seems to be working better for me than version 1, but only the non-Open FX version, If I try to even open the OpenFX version, I get an instant crash in Vegas 12.

(Although I'm still using the trial version, I suspect I would get the same results either way)

>>For me, NewBlu Titler 1.0 with Vegas Pro 11 never worked once; it crashed Vegas every time.

My experience was similar. NB 1.0 was crashing V11 often (not exactly every time) .. I stopped using it and had no further problems with V11. But I like the product.

I might have to wait on upgrade to V12 until I heard better things about NB 2.0 .. It's a deal for $99.95 but not if it will crash V12 -- then it is useless.

I have turned the GPU acceleration off (although that seems like a shame, since I have a pretty decent graphics card - GeForce GTX 580) and it does seem to make a difference while using NB Titler Pro 2 - OpenFX. So far, no crashes in Vegas Pro 12

I did buy the upgrade and got a serial nr and a link for newbluetitler.

Is this still the same titler as I got when upgrading to V11 ?
Meaning version 1 ? ( which I did not yet install since too many complaints about it not working well and tremendious chaos about the version numbering )

There is no version nr when using this link , simply says ....Sony/NewBlueTitlerProForSonyVegasSetup.exe

Vegas Pro 11 and 12 come bundled with Titler Pro 1. The "upgrade" version is Titler Pro 2.

The bundled version must be run as OpenFX. If you upgrade to 2.0, you will get a full serial number which means that you would be able to use either the older DirectX or the OpenFX version.
apsolonproductions wrote on 9/28/2012, 10:32 AM
I like any of the newblue stuff and the titler was a nice feature to have in SVP11 (When SVP11 would work and not crash). I have thought about purchasing the license for it on premiere because I like the ease of the titler so much, since I have to jump back and forth from Abode to Sony now. I know the license for all plats is around 300 for the older titler. So i would think the upgrade and lightblends would be a good deal for a hundred bucks even if they just work on SVP.

...since I have to jump back and forth from Abode to Sony now.

I had NEVER gotten NBTP v1 to work in Premiere CS6 so I was stoked to see NBTP v2 released. My excitement quickly dissipated when I went to add a NBTP into a Premiere project. Deja Vu - Instant Crash!

NBTP v1 & v2 seem to work OK for me in Vegas 12.
