What is everyone doing for simple bass and drum beats? I just need a basic 2/4 drum beat and simple fill in for drums and every loop I listen to is a drum solo! I use Line6 Toneport PC amp for my guitar and sony acid 7.0 to record and need basic drum and bass to add color. Also, Ive considered Drum software, use my keyboard like drumsticks if anyone has experience with that. Thanx for any help and please keep it simple. My short term memory cuts out from time to time.

If you're using ACID Pro 7, Sonoma's KitCore comes with it. You could definitely use that to get started with your own percussion tracks.

On the menu above this page, to the right, click My Account > My Software and then click the "Download" link next to your listing for ACID Pro 7.

As far as bass goes, you can either use a VSTi or various loop libraries (there are a ton). I'd recommend a VSTi just because, typically, a bass line mirrors a guitar.

A couple of things I will recommend:

Toontrack's EZ drummer is really nice for creating straight ahead pop/rock type of arrangements using the included MIDI patterns and VSTi drum kits. Additional patterns and kits (expansion sets) are available from their website.

As for loops, keeping with the SONY sets, the Vitale Drums are pretty straightforward for pop/rock stuff and the RADS series (Drum Tools) are all pretty straight ahead. For country, the old Country set still works well. There are also lots of loops online for very reasonable prices these days. Check out betamonkey and others.

Bass is another matter - there are a lot of nice loop sets for bass, but I usually find them too busy or can't quite get them to mesh with the drums the way a "real" bassist would. I wish there were some simple bass loops I could recommend, but as of now I cannot.

I will second b.complex thoughts on EZDrummer. I use this program and it works great - very realistic sounding drums and lots of midi patterns that are drag and drop ready.

thanx, all, for replying. Ive seen the virual drummers and looked at drum machines like Zoom and Alesis and I think the virtual drums r going to be the way to go, just have everything on my PC. I use a Line 6 Tone port GT(guiat amp interface for PC) which I record into my Sony Acid. I did buy sum Sony loops(Discrete 1 and Rudy Sarzo)..To conclude my post Ive seen the single hit drum loop and I need to just line them up in an Acid track, using a separate track for every single drum strike..On second though, I might have to get a virtual drummer. its hard enough to write music w/o doing stuff the hard way. Im laughing but Im serious. Thanx again, all. Im gonna start checking replies everyday now so please share any idea's or just discuss music n general. any1 use Jamplay? I got a coupon when i bought my Drop D capo. sorry so long.
