| Subject:Looking for suggestions for purchasing a microphone Posted by: SonofGary Date:11/23/2001 10:24:26 PM Well I finally figured out I need a new microphone to get my Echo Mia soundcard to work properly. I need a mic with a built in pre-amp, but I have no clue where to look and what type to look for. If anyone with an Echo Mia soundcard has any suggestions on a mic that works real good with that card it would be appreciated or if you just know what would be a good microphone to get. I'm trying to get crystal clear sound, but I don't want to go broke in the process. I'm willing to part with only a couple hundred dollars, so just keep that in mind. |

But it's so close, and it is well worth the money. Go pick up a Behringer B-2 microphone. You will need a pre-amp for it but at $199 you can't go wrong. Trust me! I would suggest an Art MP. They are very affordable, and sound really good for the money as well. I have a lot of high end equipment, and the B-2 is so comparable it pisses me off! And when I travel around making samples,(which is what I do for a living), I take a couple of Art tube MP studios with me. They work so well and are so cheap you can afford to have them out in the weather. |

| Subject:RE: Looking for suggestions for purchasing a microphone Reply by: SonofGary Date:11/26/2001 12:17:02 AM I was looking at the Behringer B-2 microphone and I'm leaning towards that one, but I cannot figure out if it will produce the right output. I tried to dl the specs, but I don't have anything to open the file in. The pages I've looked at stated that it has +48 V phantom power. The only problem is I'm not sure what that is and what it does. I know for my Echo Mia soundcard the two levels are +4 db and -10 db. Would the +48 V phantom power fit in and make it loud enough to record or do I have to get a pre-amp? I just don't want to spend more money where it's not needed, so if anyone knows it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Son of Gary |
| Subject:RE: Looking for suggestions for purchasing a microphone Reply by: Rockitglider Date:11/26/2001 12:35:37 PM Hello, You don't have phantom power on your sound card, You need to get a mic preamp or the Mixer I told you about in the earlier post has it builtin. Phantom power is external power for some microphones that require it. See ya, Rockit |
