When saving to .MP3 it automatically inserts gaps of silence at the top and tail. This is a part of the format.

It's supposed to happen. SF compensates for some programs that chop off the beginnings and ends by adding space. The only way around it is to save your mp3s as .wav files.

SF is a great professional tool (far out) for sounds editing, but today, I looking for mp3's editors what support that option, anyone know someone ?

Hi,

I have the same problem. I found a 15-day trial of a program that has a toolbar button to remove silence, and it works great (although this is the only thing I use it for; SF is a superior editor and has better zoom of the waveform). This feature can be found in either Blaze Media Pro or AudioEdit Deluxe, at http://www.mystikmedia.com/. I wish SF had this button. Apparently there is no way to get rid of leading and trailing white space (I looked for an option to turn it off but can't find one). It happens in mp3s and wavs with me (the only formats I work with).

Hope this helps,

Mary Anne

Oh, that's too bad. I'm running on Win2K. I found it by searching for "sound editor" at http://www.zdnet.com/downloads/. I don't see any for WinXP, though. Maybe you could email the developer and see if an XP version is in the works.

Good luck,

Mary Anne
