I am a long time user of Sound Forge from the Sonic Foundry days & very happy with the Program so much so I still use it as my final audio editor while everything else is on Mac........I would like to upgrade to SF10 pro from SF9 only to discover it would be cheaper to use the Competitive Upgrade option than the direct upgrade from 9 to 10. Will someone please explain why a long time loyal customer must pay more than a first time buyer ......the difference in cost is small but when you consider the cost of previous purchases I find it hard to understand . Customer loyalty really should be cherished & not abused like this. I also feel apart from this gripe the price of the upgrade is a little too much...... |

IMO, I would wait for SF-11. (if and when there is a SF Pro-11) In which SCS normally offers current registered users substantial discounts. So unless there's something in SF-10 you need immediately, like multichannel support, there's not a huge advantage in upgrading from 9 to10. Message last edited on4/18/2012 10:20:05 AM byrraud. |

Well, while i can understand your complaint about the cross-grade pricing, it really is Sony's call to set whatever pricing policy they wish. They have to balance enticing new customers with pissing off others, and i guess that's where they found the balance point. I suppose you could call the sales department and *ask* for the competitive upgrade pricing. The worst they can do is say "no", but if you convince them they'll get a sale they may be authorized to be nice. I agree though, if you can wait for it, the initial upgrade price when a new version first comes out is always the best deal, often better than 75% off. The only problem is not knowing how long that wait may be. Until then, ask yourself, what benefit do you think you might get from a newer version that you're not getting from the one you have now? |

I wouldn't spend any money until the they decide to offer proper 64bit platform support. You're asking for bug hunts and library clashes and all kinds of heart ache otherwise. Secondly, is there anything you need feature wise between 9 and 10? SF9.0 is well spec'd for 99% of things in a normal working day. |
