Subject:Best way to access loops?

I'm a seasoned Sound Forge (4.5) user, know some about Vegas but not yet entirely versed on Acid.
One thing I have noticed is that when "writing" a song using SF Acid Loops, is that, as the song gains complexity, the CDROM drive has to work harder to keep up while playing the song in Acid. I started out on Adid Music 2.0 and upgraded to Pro 3.0 so I have both of those CDs to pull loops from.
I'm really not having much trouble now, but I can see into the future that if I had more than 2 CDs to access loops from in any given song, I couldn't do it - I only have 2 drives.
I was wondering what the concensus is as to how loops are most commonly accessed by any particular song in Acid? Do you pull all of them off of CDROMs? or do you save some of them to hard-drive(s)? or what?
I'm interested to see how others are doing it.

Thanks.

Hello,
I put all my loops on the Hard Drive, With a 7200 RPM drive this is the best way to stream loops to a song. If you don't have enough room for all the loops, you can save your projects saving the loops that are used in each song to a folder with the song, This way you're only saving the loops you need. You can also select "Add to Favorites Folder" in the Explorer View Window and save certain folders of loops from each CD.

I think this is the best way.

See ya, Rockit

Ditto what Rockit said. Not only is it the best way I can think of, but you'll save yourself the trouble of having to yank out multiple CD's just to open other projects. Plus, you can keep your original loop CD media safe this way (unless you burn a copy and store the original master away safely).

Of course, the only downside is hard drive space. Having a large loop collection can eat up lots of it. Shouldn't overall be a problem, especially if you're the proud owner of a 100 GB hard drive. (Gasp!)

yeah, the best thing to do is whack 'em on your hard drive. I don't really have a problem with it cause i've got two high speed CD-roms, one slow and 256Mb. Hate to brag :)

FYI - All loops that are in your Acid project have been loaded into RAM. The CD-ROM drive will only need to access the disc once when it loads the loop initially. There is no need to have more than one loop disc in your computer at a time, you can swap discs on the fly. Putting the loops on your hard drive is cool too, I just thought you guys might like to know.
