reel,
Sorry to read about your problems. I'm also running the 64bit MSP 12 (Suite version) without the issues you're describing. Click my username to see my specs and compare. What's the nVidia driver version you are using? I believe a recent version (305.93) was pulled off due to troubles.

Don't know about those, but I should go to sleep or I crash. It's 02:55 a.m. here.

Hi

I'll check those drivers again and maybe i'll find what it is. For the first time I'm thinking of getting a Mac and using premiere ...

My help utility now crashes when I try to search for something...anything......just installed VASST CinemaLooks. Nice. Will try a reboot.

Help utility causes crash. Gotta love that...

Edit: Reboot didn't fix it.

Another handy feature is that after a crash, the re-started (and "save-as'd") project doesn't come back to a saved version. Well, a recently saved version anyway. Comes back to some unknown earlier version...Easy to miss what you recently changed...grrrr..

skeeter,
well, I've never had that...
Haven't any CinemaLooks yet either, but I have the free Vasst Celluloid script plug-in (which has some of these film looks) in VegasPro without trouble. If you think the plug-in might be the cause, uninstall?

As for back-ups, try searching for a yourproject.vf.bak file, if you just saved while working on the project. Rename to yourproject.vf.
When you save a project, .vf.bak files are created in your project folder to allow you to return to the project's last-saved state. Creation of backup files is independent of automatic project saving. (from Help: Automatic Project Saving)

You should find the Help file in your Program Files (x86) / Sony / Shared Plug-ins / Help files > MovieStudio120.chm

Thanks once again, VK...but how is that different from a forced save? <ctrl>S ?

Or, how does one revert to a backup? The help file states: "When you save a project, .vf.bak files are created in your project folder to allow you to return to the project's last-saved state." This implies that there is a way to do that. When recovering from the lovely "help-search-crash", it doesn't come back to the state that I had force-saved <ctrl>S.

Nope. Uninstalling the VASST plug-in didn't fix it...I think I'll let Sony figure that one out....unless they want to put this retired software engineer on the payroll...lol!

Edit: It was the Magic Bullet QuickLooks Plug in that causes the help-search-crash! They will get my bill...

Try to find yourproject.vf.bak file, rename it to yourproject.vf and open. Probably it's in your MSP12 project folder.

As I noted in another thread, I started having crashes after installing TitleStrips FASST APP. I sent a tech support email directly to VASST, and got an email back (in world record time!) from John Rofrano at VASST...just sent him the error log, and hopefully a fix will happen. I migrated from Pinnacle Studio years ago, and even with all the recent crash issues, I'd never think of going back.
