So how does everyone feel now that it's official - Sound Forge Pro for the Mac. No mention of an update on the PC front. Are there many here that are going to switch to a mac version of the software? Or curious about the initial slew of bugs as sonycreativesoftware ventures into MAC territory? www.finallyonthemac.com |

I'm very excited about it. I switched to Mac about a year ago and there's no decent 2 channel audio editor there. Adobe Audition is closer than the rest but I still don't like it. It's clumsy. I wonder if this development is why Sound Forge saw so little activity the last few years. No doubt the new Mac version will be released with a new Windows version. I hope the license is cross platform so I can just upgrade. Otherwise the purchase will be hard on my finances. Even with upgrade pricing it'll be hard on my finances. |

Completely understand. It needs to work for both PC and Mac and on your licence. I love overloud products for that reason. Both systems work and you can licence your plugins on up to 3 systems. Even in S1v2 you have up to 5 systems you can put it on both mac and pc. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come. Now we just need Acid Pro to go mac and pc with a serious update. Maybe Sound Forge Pro is the precursor to that. |

I really, really, really hope they don't do what Adobe did with Audition. I own a license of Audition 3 for Windows and when they released Audition CS5.5 for Mac/Win, they didn't allow you to install on both Mac and PC, you had to choose one. Seriously? Ableton Live will install on both with no questions asked. Ridiculous amount of money to spend on a program you can't use on all of your systems. I mean, why even offer cross-platform capability? So far, this appears to be just a standalone Mac version (note: no version number). I'd be surprised if they've also been working on the next iteration of SF for PC. It just seems like a lot to tackle based on their typical release cycle. Regardless, I'm anxious to play with a demo for the Mac (assuming it isn't the failsauce that was the SpectraLayers initial demo, which was just bizarre). Rob. |

I sincerely hope that this additional 'complication' does not detract from development and support for Win versions. There certainly was a gap in the market. Still loath almost everything about Macs though .... geoff Message last edited on8/22/2012 10:03:23 PM byGeoff_Wood. |

My reply: You've just made my day. The aging Windoze machine I kept around for Soundforge 9 duty has given up the ghost and is being retired. I can finally go to a one OS operation here on my Macs. My only other affordable alternative on the Mac is DSP Quattro ($99.95 outright or $79.95 crossgrade for SF users) since Bias closed shop. I'd rather not learn a new program if I can as I can pretty mmuch get around SF without thinking about things. Any news about when this is available, how much, and from where (Sony or 3rd party)?
