I have a sound file which has someone talks in it while the music goes on. I really want to remove that human voice. Can anyone help me? I am using Sound Forge 5. By the way, the Chorus feature in Sound Forge seems can identify human voice without any problem, so how to remove it without giving the background music a big change. Thanks a lot!

You can't. You just can't! How many people have to ask...?

Actually....YIKES!!!...this might be ONE instance where you might be able too. Since the Voice does not have any reverb on it and is probably Panned dead center and is not double tracked. Try PROCESS>CHANNEL CONVERT, and then select the STEREO to STEREO Vocal Cut (Center channel removal) Preset. Try that preset and preview it, then try putting a check in the "invert left channel mix" and preview that and see if you get successful results either way. You will probably lose the voice, but you will also lose some music, but you might be able to get what you want. If that doesn't work then, try selecting the Left channel only and then PROCESS>INVERT/FLIP. Also try EFFECTS>DYNAMICS>MULTI-BAND and select the ANTI DTMF (talk off) preset. Those are probably your best shot at accomplishing this, but don't be too hopeful.

I found a DirectX plug in called AnalogX Vocal Remover that sometimes works well (stereo - centered vocal). Sorry I don't remember the URL

I found it.
www.analogx.com/contents/download/audio/vremover.htm
I tried it.
I loaded up Van Morrison/Moondance into Acid Pro and used it.
What your left with is AM radio quality audio AT BEST!! Alot of mumbling filters through. This still doesn't work well enough to say it is possible to remove vocals from a mixed-down project.

My 2 cents.

I believe all the AnalogX plug-in does is exactly what Rednroll described in the earlier reply.

These stupid plug-ins, methods, and programs just do not work well because you just cannot remove vocals from a file cleanly. It cannot be done. It is even in the FAQ! Sheesh!

Hey beetle, shut up you ignorant F#@^. In MOST cases it can't be done. I can give the physics behind how this CAN be done and like I previously posted, this might be one of those special cases. Unless you have some background knowledge and understanding of audio physics, and are able to contribute to the original posts solution, then close your pie hole.
