Would it be a safe assumption that SectraLayers might - by default - either render a new file in the format and bit depth of the original file or, as in other Sony software, in the last format rendered? That's not what's happening here. It defaults to Microsoft Wave 24-bit every time and, if there's a way to change the default, I don't see it. It's not the biggest deal maybe, but it's extra mouse clicks to remember every time. (Nothing wrong with 24 bits, but why render that if the original file is 16 bits?) |

> why render that if the original file is 16 bits? One reason is that if you apply any process to a 16bit file, the resultant file will always exceed 16bits, which either has to be dithered or truncated to produce 16bits again. |

Good point. It would just really be helpful if the software maintained the render settings previously used similarly to Vegas and Sound Forge. Fortunately, it does remember the last file location for renders. |
