I think considering AMS9 is 4 years newer than AP7 is more than enough to justify it's better performance. I also think Sony's sole business purpose is to get you to purchase AMS9 instead of worrying about what you don't have in AP7 or to waste any time wondering whether or not AP is ever coming back. My guess is a very strong no. Another observation - to address Peter's cryptic response to my earlier question of whether or not Acid has a future might just be - AMS9. VP |

"Dynamic playback optimization Gain increased performance on single and multicore processor machines with audio track buffering. ACID Pro 7 software uses a separate processing thread to render audio from tracks. On multiprocessor or multicore computers, processing is distributed evenly across all CPUs to increase playback performance." Scroll down to around the middle here. Basically, Music Studio 9 gained what Pro 7 had for several years. |

Need to also add: If Sony Creative's intention was for Pro 7 users to "upgrade" to Music Studio 9, that's pretty ass backwards, considering Music Studio 9 still doesn't have some features users like me want (as I noted in an earlier post). I couldn't think of a better way of ticking off Pro users if that's the case. |

No one ever said you were going to get new features (or even get everything you had back with AP7). It is what it is... VP |

What's the difference and why does this software run so much more stable than AP7 on my system? Newer compilers, newer class libraries, "newer "everything" is the difference. The biggest difference in my opinion is that AP7 was written and designed for XP (and possibly Vista) but most definitely not Windows 7 - especially 64bit.. Actually AP7 never even ran very well on Vista either (for the very short time that I used it) but it always ran great on 32 bit XP. 4 to 5 years in software dev time is like decades in real time. LOTS can happen performance wise in what seems like a short time on the old calendar...:) VP |
