Should you normalize first and then EQ or what?
What works best for you?

If you're going to normalize, that should be the last step of processing. If you normalize first, this brings the level of the file to 0dB, which is the highest it can be for digital. Now if you add EQ, you are almost guaranteed to create digital distortion because the level is being boosted beyond 0dB. If you subtract EQ, now your level of your file is not at 0dB, where you want it to be.

I've always done it I guess I was just looking for a
little justification of my methods.
