An AVI is just a wrapper. What is inside that wrapper needs to be established. You can do this by downloading the 2 FREE utilities that will interrogate your "avi".

One is called MediaInfo, and the other is G-Spot. Once you've got those details ready copy them into here, so will can see what you're having to deal with.
